Re: Anybody heard Deep Dish Lately?

saw them at crobar/ny - not bad, not great. mixing in lots of top 40 type sht got old quick. also, it felt very pre-programmed. terrible crowd though too, so that might have tainted the evening.

I caught a large portion of their set @ Space Miami in November. Dubfire opened and kept the dark beat going from the house DJ. Then he played it safe for an hour before tearing the roof off. Sharam followed in the main-room and brought all of the "jump up jump up and get down" excitement to the room. He must have played 2 back-to-back remixes of Flashdance though. Believe it or not, what he did with it was pretty fucking cool. We had to leave before they went on the Terrace though. Who knows, they might surprise you.

#349626Post 5 of 54

tell them "haletoon chetoreh?" from me

#349631Post 6 of 54

actually saw them 2 weeks ago here in philly. sharam came on first and was OK then dubfire came on and destroyed the place with some dark, nasty beats. shit i've never heard before. they played about 8 hours or so. they have to play long sets to be good IMO.

I heard Ali in December. Just Ali without the bad part of the group :) He kept it spinning for 5 hours but overall i felt a little dissapointed. In my opinion they are going down down down with more and more commercial shite. He was okay though, i would rate the night at about 6.5/10. I heard them both in the summer at the seaside both in the club and on the beach but it was pretty sucky. Ali would tear the roof off then Sharam would come and bore the hell of everybody. 12 hours of Deep Dish i want to forget.

Re: Anybody heard Deep Dish Lately?

As Cardiff is only a few miles from me I'd be there like a shot, only problem is I'm in Prague this week  Hope you have a good night Beavis

#349748Post 15 of 54

saw them in dc at fur in nov 04 and loved the first part of the set and not so much the second part, not sure who was spinning. short hair was first, long hair...second,lol. saw them again in jan in dc at 1223 for a Tsunami benefit, short hair played downstairs and was ok. long hair played vip, spank, and played crazy previously mentioned top 40 remixes that the crowd loved. (probably only because DD is from dc), and third and most recent time was in already mentioned philly at transit...very long set. not great, not bad. ups and downs.

Re: Anybody heard Deep Dish Lately?

There are afew sets over at Livesets. But you must register over there, then look for links to House sets. 2 new sets got posted today one is Jan 05 2005 but it,s a bitTorrent link. The other is a live set from 04.

I really love this band the 1st time I heard them was a couple of years back. They were kicking ass and taking names back then. The 6 hr gig coming up will be the mother of all sets. I would love to meet them and give-em a BIG NYC style hug for all of the fresh sets they did over the years...

Nice pix indeed! :D

MAN, Dubfire & Saaed were @ Avalon (LA) that nite, Erick Morillo at GK and Chus & Ceballos @ Circus, I've travelled 8000 km to see Dubfire and because of my friends getting late, we arrived around 0030, the place was so PACKED (+2000 peepz) and they werent letting people in anymore...I was sooo upset and finally went to see Erick Morillo

Re: Anybody heard Deep Dish Lately?

I just don't get Deep Dish... never have

#349847Post 20 of 54

Havent seem them since their Pacha opening party this summer in ibiza and they rocked, gotta agree that Ali Dubfire is probably the better half playing darker side of their style, but in a 5 hour set I only recognised a couple of tracks, one being Flashdance off course!

Lets hope they drop Say Hello, I know its a bit of a feel good track but who cares, especially at 4am

Beavis if you want a refresher in some recent deep dish sets I can recommend La Mania 2004 (2 parts) and Muretto 2004 (3/4 parts), both rock and showcase deep dish at their sublime best

Also the first 3/4 Hours of Siofok is pretty damn good

ps I not biased  , I just happen to like Deep Dish and nearly 10 years ago I bought my first piece of vinyl Alcatraz - Give me Luv double pack of DD remixes and its still one of my fav records today 8)

#349945Post 21 of 54

at crobar here, i was really diggin ali's stuff as always. smooth mixing, interesting tracks. sharam as always just banged the 80's remixes and then the hard almost monotonous tribal...seeing ali was well worth it though. and although the crowd is always iffy at crobar, i actually thought it was pretty good to DD this last time. there must have been a 1:1 girl to guy ratio on the dancefloor at 5am. that's impressive to me.

#349946Post 22 of 54

I was at that party at La Mania and believe me.... it wasn't worth it. out of 12 hours of deep dish i liked only 2. Ali from 4-5 AM and then again from 6-7 AM. The problem is as always sharam.

hahaha, me too, and whats with the black drapes? why not open up the whole room? or was that just a Time Flies thing?

Re: Anybody heard Deep Dish Lately?

no :Nerves:

#353381Post 29 of 54

Last time I saw them was at the House of Blues in Orlando a couple months ago. They pretty much killed it. I'd never seem Ali before and I was not disappointed. They didn't play any of these Top 40 remixes everyone is talking about, which I take as a good thing. Just hard bangin' house...typical Deep Dish, which is definetly a good thing.

well I got it half right, Wales deservedly beat England but in my opinion DD failed to deliver, some good tracks through out the night i.e Say Hello and The Killers but U2 and The Corrs

Re: Anybody heard Deep Dish Lately?

Incredible night imo, Ali simply blew me away, i forgot how good these guys are, Sharam was well up for it, jumping around and shit, great crowd, decent system, Ali's first hour was the highlight for me, solid stuff. There are some pictures at www.chemicalbeavis.com in the photo section. Will have some video up there in the next couple of days :)

#355462Post 37 of 54

^^ good but I've seen them play better, though definately agree with you that Ali was better, even though last hour or so we were right at the front jumping around to Sharam, he did a blinding mix of Money for Nothing into Flashdance (I Think?!) and gotta admit he was pretty up for it

Also how funny was the set up, I said school disco, it looked liked they nicked a school desk to set up the decks on

#355627Post 38 of 54

^^^haha, yeah definately had that school disco vibe going on, i've seen them 3 times before, twice at Bedrock and once at the Rock in Bristol but this was the best i've heard them, well Ali at least, BTW i have a good clip of that mix you mentioned, i will get it up asap :P

#355639Post 39 of 54

The highlight of the weekend was the famous Welsh victory over the English.

#355775Post 40 of 54
