Farewell to the Download page

Since the Transitions show will be posted in the p+r from 2011 on, our Download page has become obsolete so it's time to take it down. Putting it offline was a bit of a bummer because so many good memories are connected with it for me.

Starting with password protection and moving on to mysterious files without mp3 extensions you can only get if you have 25 postings. Now it can be said..the post count you had to have was 25. Not that much imo but for some a crime against humanity lol. A cent for each question we got about the Download page and we'd be zillionaires.

Over seven years of dishing Digweed's Transitions and other mixes through the Download page shouldn't go by unnoticed so please say farewell to the Download page. All hail to you, Download page!

Re: Farewell to the Download page

Wholeheartedly agree.

SO MANY good tunes came to me through that download page over the years.

Thank you to everybody who helped make that happen.

Re: Farewell to the Download page

Though it might be a bit sad to see it go, I think now's the time. The Internet has come a long way since [ms] was born, which has provided many new outlets to get our weekly dose of music. When [ms] started, we were searching for music on Napster and crossing fingers to discover new artists worth listening to. Now, I think advancements in Internet bandwidth & frameworks and the many free storage sites have made our Kiss 100 hosting something that doesn't compete with today's commodity of free podcasts and networking direct with the artists we like on Facebook, MySpace, Soundcloud, and Twitter.

Here's to gracefully folding away our Kiss 100 mission and welcoming in a more contemporary goal of connecting our members to instant download subscriptions with our new DJ Database :D

Re: Farewell to the Download page

Long live Audiogalaxy, where it all began. If you remember those many moons ago, as I do, I awaited not-so-patiently as dial-up modems around the world slowly fed me each piece of each Digweed mix.

And somewhat ironically as I Googled for audiogalaxy to verify the name, I notice the guys who started Audiogalaxy all those years ago - which later became "FolderShare", sold to Microsoft, and later turned into Windows Life Sync -- are now back doing Audiogalaxy.... And the circle is complete...

Re: Farewell to the Download page

oh that's fucking sad. I remember in college tuesday was my new music day because that's when the downloads where updated. bring it back once a year for MS birthday IMO

#1453466Post 16 of 39

Re: Farewell to the Download page

Yes, put the Birthday mixes in the good ol' dixie apple-pie download section. Get Robag Wruhme to do one!

Re: Farewell to the Download page

ahh the poor download page.. that is what initially attracted me to MS.. Global Eyes told me about this sweet site where you could get Digweed sets called MS and they had a download page. RIP Download page without you I might have never come to MS and been the villain I am today..

#1453481Post 19 of 39

Re: Farewell to the Download page

^dont worry, you have provided lots of good times over the years, cheers :)

ahh bye bye downloads...I don't know how much of my ~160G of dj sets i've gotten from MS but I'd say it is 90% and this is the best stuff of my life...I came across MS right after college and didn't post or look on here much at all, then a couple of years later started posting like mad and realize I have almost 10k posts, damn how time goes by.

I remember downloading diggers first kiss100 broadcast with deep dish off of napster when I was still on college. Listening to gpal sets today that are already 6 years old, and me also getting a year older this weekend...memories. Time is going by too fast.

Thanks for some of the best music of my life and also meeting some of you guys, I hope to do it again soon. MS MS MS.

I never knew there was a download page ?? :what

#1453725Post 26 of 39

Re: Farewell to the Download page

I will always think of the old d/l page fondly .. it was like unwrapping a present each week to see which goodies were inside.

#1453833Post 27 of 39

Re: Farewell to the Download page

Its such a shame to see the download section become obsolete but the promo and recommendations forum is truly the ultimate result of what the [ms] community can do

#1453840Post 28 of 39

Re: Farewell to the Download page

^You should check out the DJ Database and subscriptions :D

Re: Farewell to the Download page

Thanks for all this years, and my nice collection of Digweed's Kiss shows.

#1453881Post 30 of 39

Re: Farewell to the Download page

So no more special [MS] downloads in future as well? The Download page was nice for that besides linking to the Kiss sets. Like simon said it was like visiting the Christmas tree and finding presents everytime there was a special download.

Re: Farewell to the Download page

damn where'd the downloads page go?

#1454471Post 33 of 39

Re: Farewell to the Download page

sad to see it go...there was an excitement to go there and see the guest dj and other mixes for the MS anniversaries and special mixes which would appear there frequently

Re: Farewell to the Download page

I plan on making a "new" Download tab in the coming months based on DJDB, once I can put together the proper training material

how many downloads before I can post around here?!?!?

So long, download page. Great memories. Thanks.

Re: Farewell to the Download page

Why not still use it for selected dj sets. Like what MS used to do. I remember that was how a lot of us got that 6 hour Deep Dish set.

#1459170Post 38 of 39

Re: Farewell to the Download page

Do we really have to let it go ? I hate goodbyes ....

#1459191Post 39 of 39

Re: Farewell to the Download page

The last mixes we hosted through the Download page besides the Transitions show was in 2008 I think. Nowadays, I would either make a direct link to our Server and post it in a forum or host it on MCast directly. So chances, we will use it in Future are very low, if we have a download page or not.
