Re: Looking for a good tribal progressive house set.

I'm not really sure what Tribal is. Some people think Digweed LA GU is Tribal, but I don't think so. I always thought it was the sound Lawler, Tenaglia or Victor Calderone where playing around that 2000/2001 era. You could try this one its a bit later but a realy good set

Re: Looking for a good tribal progressive house set.

I love that tribal progressive sound. It takes you into a trip without spoiling the funky house effect :). You should check Hernan Cattaneo's mix for Kiss 20-06-2004 and offcourse all his <2005 sets ^^.

I would really like to help you to get some links of 2010 tribal prog sets, but I don't know who's playing such music wright now :(.

Re: Looking for a good tribal progressive house set.

Any RPO set, anything Lawler 2000-2001, his deep tribal mix is excellent as is redbox dublin 1-27-01, or his em's from 2000 or 2001

Re: Looking for a good tribal progressive house set.

Pfft, As if I wouldn't have a link for this

Funky Deep @ Tribal

http://www.mediafire.com/?5mtcki8ok3f2k

There doesn't seem to be anyone playing that style of music anymore . Lawler certainly isn't, but people move on, and I while I used to love this music , I think a lot of the music today is better. imho of course :)

Just thought I should upload this in 320 Doing it now.:)

Not a set, but a fairly recent remix Lawler did that I loved from 2009-

It's been a minute since I've heard some deep tribal prog. Although, there seemed to be a bit of tribal revival in tech house in 2009. Cadenza was putting out a lot of drummy stuff and djs like Michel Cleis, Luciano, Nima Gorji and Amir were all dropping it. Haven't been hearing it as much lately.

When i first heard that I thought "He's back!!" But he wasn't

I think the music is indeed better speaking in terms of sound quality and the "image" that tracks create (it's like someones quote: music was 2D untill it became 3D or something like that). But after all I still miss that funky tribal jungle sound that kept the tracks "fresh". Nowadays I can't imagine myself listening to prog when it's +30c, but in the time of this tribal sound I could :D.

BTW another nice G-Pal set http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JMU3Z5UD (it says it's not availeble at the moment but if you refresh it a couple of times it will work otherwise give a yell and I will upload it again). It's really a shame that there are no G-Pal tracklists on the net :(.
I'm not really sure what Tribal is. Some people think Digweed LA GU is Tribal, but I don't think so.
It's not a tribal compilation. It just has elements of tribal sounds to it.

For the most part it's dark, deep, progressive house.

I just think of it as Dark Progressive House. I think of Tribal as a sound that incorporates loads of drums. The Nubreed series was another one that got the same tag. Lawler's yes, the other 5 not really

Try the Saeed & Palash guest mix from 2000 - their style is described as an 'eclectic mix of twisted-tribal-tech infused progressive house'.

Re: Looking for a good tribal progressive house set.

The timing by Beatport is uncanny-
Loopmasters are very proud to present an exclusive collection of sounds and samples from one of the most in demand global DJs of his generation, the one and only Steve Lawler.

When it comes to producers with a percussive flair, it doesn't get much heavier than Steve Lawler. No wonder Loopmasters signed him up for an extensive collection of beats and loops for DJs and producers. We've also included charts highlighting our favorite bonus beats, drum tracks, loops and drum samples across genres. Nothing but drums, drums, and more drums!

Dark Percussive House and Techno features inspirational samples for the next generation of Dance Music DJ who are looking to take their DJ mash ups to a higher level.

Steve Lawler is a definitive DJ and producer; a tastemaker whose sets combine quality house music with the power to move dance floors around the world. In the last few years, he's ignited crowds in the worlds best clubs such as Zouk in Singapore, Space in Miami, Twilo in New York, Pacha in Buenos Aires and the mighty Space in Ibiza. Courtesy of home in the summer of 1999 and 2000, he provided the groundbreaking sets of the season for many of those lucky enough to hear him. After just two months he had been crowned 'King Of Space' by the locals - a rare and well-deserved honour.

As an artist Steves releases & remixes have been signed by some of the worlds most established recording labels; R&S Records, Systematic, Drumcode, Harthouse, Cocoon, MBF, OVUM, Sci+Tec, Tsuba, Souvenir, Rekids, Boxer Sport, Be As One, Monique, Kostbar, Soma, Skint and of course his own recording label VIVa MUSiC.
