any surprise about the comments from bloomy yesterday regarding that stupid idea for a stadium

a few months ago........ " the stadium has nothing to do with the olympic bid"(by the way , an EXTREMELY STUPID IDEA)

yesterday....." you people have to get the stadium approved or there wont be any olympics....."" government at its best IMHO.

what are your opinions?

#347635Post 2 of 19

i am a little lazy researching this,. but i assume NY is bidding to have the olympics... i think having the olympics in new york is the stupidest idea EVER. new york is already packed with people. i can't imagine the congestion the olympics would bring.

#347642Post 3 of 19

you got it garrick, but when they originally proposed the stadium and everyone opposed it, they kept saying that it absolutely had nothing to do with olympics and now the mayor says that if it isnt done, we dont get the olympics...... both are retarded ideas, the should put the damn stadium in flushing meadows where the Mets play and aurthur ashe stadium is(US open tennis). the highways and subways are already there and its literally 4 minutes from laguardia and 10 from JFK. and shea stadium(mets) is crap. ugly and old(i wouldnt mind old if it were like fenway, yankee or wrigley)

I live over near the proposed site for the new stadium...it would be extremely inconvenient logistically for the locals to get anything done without being inconvenienced by the fans/tourists!! LEt's put it someplace else!
And I seriously doubt that we'll get the olympics here in 2012, i just don't think that the olympic committee thinks we're ready for it (especially after how athens fubarred everything up). Frankly, I'd be surprised if we DO.

Don't want to get you off-topic, but the Athens Olympics was seen by most as an overwhelming success. Not sure how you arrived at that opinion. :?

The Stadium does not belong in Manhattan.... Put it in Queens

#347668Post 7 of 19

No doubt that stadium was a success and amazingly beautiful, however, I was referring to the security preparations, the traffic problems that hadn't been addressed and the logistics of how the city would be affected by hundreds of thousands of tourists bombarding the city. They were way behind schedule up until the first event, and many visitors thought that it was a nightmarish city to navigate in order to attend the events and enjoy the sights of the city. Oh, and I didn't mention that they ran out of money and went bankrupt to host them. That's the last thing nyc needs.

i can't see them ever building a stadium in nyc, where the hell would anyone park or tailgate????

#347672Post 9 of 19

sorry to put u wrong but i did'nt see it as a success at all, the stadiums were always empty, the television ratings for the olimpics were down..i don't understand why people weren't bothered about the last olimpics....

back to the point...NYC is way to packed for the olimpics i think, ive being there and it scares me, theres just no room at all for anyone.

you live around hells kitchen, there is a great eatery around there. I think it's called the hells kitchen diner or something like that. Nice place. I've got an artist friend who lives just off 8th and 36th. Not too far away from there I believe.

There's some great restaurants/cafes/diners in hell's kitchen!

I want russia to win the next olympic bid

#348396Post 19 of 19

My first day in NYC we went to that diner and I was totally amazed by it. I think if I lived in NY i'd have to go there at least once a week.

Highly reccommended if anyone ever goes to NYC for a visit.
