CDT-05 Pro CD Turntable World?s first analog/digital hybrid turntable/CD player

Since the advent of the CD format in the DJ realm, performance DJs have only dreamed of a solution that would combine the classic feel of a turntable with the ability to play both CDs and vinyl. With the release of the Gemini CDT-05, that dream has now become a reality, with the ability to play both vinyl, as well as to play CDs with the hands-on control of a full size direct drive platter. The CDT-05?s sturdy aluminum platter is driven by a CPU-controlled high-torque direct drive motor, perfectly suited towards vinyl playback or CD manipulation. In both analog (vinyl) and digital (CD) modes, DJs are provided with a variable pitch control, with selectable ranges of 4, 8, 16, or 50 percent, along with pitch bend function as well as master tempo. Additionally, 3 DSP effects (Filter, Zoom, and Echo) with variable parameter and a forward/reverse switch can be accessed in either mode. During CD playback, the CDT-05 affords 3 hot starts, frame accurate cue, and seamless loop, for ultimate flexibility in the digital domain. The motor can also be disengaged, for DJs that prefer CD decks with a passive, non-motor driven platter. Vinyl DJs will appreciate the removable, virtually unskippable straight tonearm system (sold separately) as well as the versatility of having an all-in-one unit to move forward with the digital revolution, while preserving the legacy of vinyl.

Re: Gemini drops the big one....

I'm surprised it's taken someone this long to bring something like this out. Even more surprising is that the idea of combining vinyl and cd decks into one never even occured to me!

#346055Post 3 of 32

Too bad most of their stuff is crap.

#346143Post 4 of 32

but doesn't that negate the point of having the ability to play from vinyl AND CDs at the same time?
Too bad most of their stuff is crap.
I agree!

#346236Post 6 of 32

totally agree , CRAP!! but i bet the big one (technics) will come out with something like this and will be the new standard .. hopefully , or probably we can see a technics / pioneer fusion , well we all can dream ,

:Naughty:

still crap.

Now that Gemini has done something like this everyone else will have to. But you never know, look how far other gimmicks have gotten in the past - Kaoss mixer, Vestax vinyl ripper. Where are they now?

I own two Gemini's...yes, they're crap. No matter from which angle you look at them or play them, they're crap.

They look like Tech 1210 MKII's...they might fool you for 5 seconds.

After Ghana, I will either get me two real MKII's or 2 Akiyama Acura's. Half the price, and just as good. Called a tech-killer. http://www.new-line.nl/webshop/view.asp?i=12641

really? the Akiyama's are that good?

#346695Post 15 of 32

that gemini turntable looks like shit... the akiyama looks nice is it any good, never even heard of that brand

#346954Post 16 of 32

The reviews I've read are without exception extremely positive on them: the only setback is they don't come with dustcovers.

Torque is higher, faster start-stop speed, good cables (best among OEM decks), very stable when correcting on the platter, less whim than the techs. I think it was originally developed for Numark, but they didn't want them for some reason. Dumbasses.

Sounds good enough IMO, especially for that price...?739,- a pair, the techs cost me ?569,- each...And even when I can get two MKII's for ?950,- (which is the case - connections) I'd still be tempted to opt for the Acura's.

Yes, gemini are crap ands personally I don't think this idea will catch on for little while yet. I kinda curious how they sound and if the cd player is actually that reliable with all the analog stiff in there. Great concept but I don't think it will catch on tell well in the dj commnity though until one of the big boys put out something like this.

#346978Post 18 of 32

Good value for the price? are they available in the U.S.?

#346980Post 19 of 32
Good value for the price? are they available in the U.S.?
Dunno...you'll have to do a little Googling I guess...

I think the folks at Technics are still licking their wounds after coming out with that terrible CD deck...
Too bad most of their stuff is crap.
exactly!

#348293Post 22 of 32

Okay peepz I get the point: my decks are the shittiest of the shittiest, I know!! Do I have to sacrifice a goat and spill it's blood all over [ms] to repent on that purchase? It has been more than 3 years ago I made that mistake FFS!

:You thin: I know ya'll aint bashing at me...but I kinda have gotten to appreciate my baby's.

#363030Post 23 of 32

 , that is crap

#363095Post 24 of 32

Well....at least they make circles instead of squares...

Too bad most of their stuff is crap.
I agree!
Take note that with a little adjustment on the tone-arm the Gemini PDT-6000 is by most people considered to be at least as good as the Techs. Read my review on my OEM-TT's in the mercurypromote forum: I still back that up 100%...

Re: Gemini drops the big one....

This is a great idea, however, from a human factors standpoint, this may be bad. I can only imagine now, espescially if you have a vinyl record sitting on top of the table, how many times people will fuck up by mixing in the wrong track because of the confusion of switching from cd to vinyl on one station. I mean this sounds great and all, but the integration might be too much. I opt to keep actual vinyl tt's and cdj's seperate from each other.

Re: Gemini drops the big one....

good idea I like it. obvious when you think about it

#436595Post 28 of 32

Gemini has copyright on it.. doubt any other company will come out with something like it for a long while...

But i can be wrong.

and it actually is pretty nice spinning with.

#436643Post 29 of 32

looks like another sad attempt at keeping up with the rest of the dj equipment world. in my experience, anything made by gemini is crap.

#436702Post 30 of 32

Re: Gemini drops the big one....

I don't know why one would want to use this when products like final scratch exist. (lets you play MP3's using your exisiting tables through two "blank" records). If you are going to burn a CD with tracks on it, why not just play the MP3s?

#436977Post 31 of 32

Re: Gemini drops the big one....

I agree with hills. Technology has surpassed the gemini product.

#436998Post 32 of 32

old news...this has been in the works for a while. Now if they can just put ouot the god damn thing (if they ever will)...

MSRP I give it around $1999
