That's really ... odd ... Renaissance has gone from strength to strength with their releases and have been pretty progressive with their marketing. I imagine they'd blame it on mp3 theft but I think this is just plain greed and shitty management if Renaissance does go into administration.

GU already went. They came back under the wing of MOS but 95% of their releases before 2003 where better than all of their releases after 2003. I think they would of been better off ending it back then.
I think Renaissance have trumped GU on most of their Cd releases since 2001. But now it wouldn't bother me if they went under or not. DJ's will still do mix comps just with a different logo on the cover. The market it saturated with mix comps

Sad, i had some great nights out with Ren at The Cross in London and at Media in Notts. Seaman, Digweed Etc all played at The Cross, they would deck that place out to look so cool, didn't make it to any of the nights at Cable.

Ah no wonder. Yeah the last GU I bought was Howells' Miami, other than that exception there hasn't been anything I've looked forward to from them for a long time.

Not surprised if they were relying on CD sales alone. Can't imagine the efforts from Woolford, C Smith, Boratto and MANDY sold all that well?
Hopefully they will be back, just hope the quality doesnt dilute as it did with GU (as chunky so rightly said)

Gutted. My clubbing days started at Venue 44 in Mansfield when I was at Uni in Nottingham, not sure it ever got much better than that to be honest, although it set a pretty damn high bar. Renaissance sustained me via The Cross for what 13, 14 years? Went to so many of those nights - never failed to be a brilliant night.

It's kind of following in what the Renaissance 3D collection was going for, only without it being 3CDs and focusing on the music that inspired the artist.
I'm not that big a fan of Laroux, and the compilation is best put as interesting for those who want to listen to eclectic mixes. Kind of like Back To Mine before it got all weirdly abstract beyond comprehension (which was shortly after [url="http://mercuryserver.com/forums/djdb.php?id=38"]the Orb[/url] release).
