It's bullshit that they would close an event after 18 people are trampled to death and around 100 injured?! I wouldn't see how they could continue once the information was out. I know I wouldn't feel like watching/partying.
Re: Love Parade 2010 Live (right now)
thats fucked up
Re: Love Parade 2010 Live (right now)
no kidding. 18 people dead trampled to death, they better shut the event down. unreal

yeah. I think it is a little bullshit. It wasn't anywhere near the festivities. People came from all over the world. And then "oh, well some people got killed and some people got injured, so all of you 850,000 people must leave. now"
should it have been shut down if 1 person was killed? what if it had been in the city, but not at the entrance? same result?

Re: Love Parade 2010 Live (right now)
its pretty sad, but again some people travelled and paid lots of money to get there and for them to cancel the whole event is not the best decision, especially that there wasnt a serious hazard for the remaining thousands of people like the place set on fire or sth, but its prob the cops that forced them to shut down the event and they made their money anyways so its only the attendees that got screwed here
I know I wouldn't feel like watching/partying.
this i agree with, i personally would have felt weird about being there after such an incident, but i def wouldnt have wanted them to close down the event unless there's danger on the lives of the remaining people
Re: Love Parade 2010 Live (right now)
On the contrary there was danger if they did close down the event. They didn't close down the event. just closed areas, because it would have been a much bigger disaster if they had, imagine all those people trying to leave at once. And those people didn't l know what had happened as the mobile network was down.
Very sad :(
Re: Love Parade 2010 Live (right now)
the mobile network coverage was pretty bad in the area from the beginning, reports said.
they didn't explicitly shut down the event so that the people already in the area didn't all leave at once, leading to massive congestions in exactly the same tunnel (which was by the way blocked by emergency services at that time, at least from what i saw on videos).
what they did was: open all the emergency exits and shut down a complete highway to the west of the area, so that people could slowly leave that way.
the music was going on till 11pm, but some major djs and acts (among them david guetta, westbam and atb) didn't appear on stage. at that time about 80.000 people were still reported in the area.
some reports said that people also climbed onto the nearby railway tracks, that's way train traffic and the main station had to be shut down also - leaving even more people stuck in that area.
Re: Love Parade 2010 Live (right now)
It's certainly all fucked up - very sad
