next month to see John Digweed and Carl Cox at Space (August 17th). Never been to the island. My idea is to be there roughly between August 14th and the 21st. I would appreciate any knowledge/tips/advice/links/whatever people deem relevant to help me out + anything else cool to see and do.

Considering An Ibiza Trip
Re: Considering An Ibiza Trip
I went for the first time last year and had a great time. One warning I can give is that it is very expensive. One beer can cost 10-12 Euros. Also, taxis are very expensive as well. If you are in Ibiza town or San Antonio, take the Disco Bus to the clubs. It only costs 3 Euros compared to a much more expensive taxi ride.
One more thing, If you decide to rent a car and see the island, be very careful not to drink and drive. The cops have road blocks especially on the road from Ibiza town to San Antonio. I got pulled over and had to take a roadside test. Fortunately, I only had one beer with my meal in San Antonio. The island is beautiful and it is fun exploring the island for remote beaches and great views. If that's something you want to do, definitely rent a car and explore.
Re: Considering An Ibiza Trip
Thanks man. I've still got some time to get things in order so whatever pops into your head that you think is useful would be great...what's the deal with hotels there? Anything else to avoid there aside from taxis and DUI?
Re: Considering An Ibiza Trip
I am heading out on 16th for 4 nights and will be there for the Digweed/Cox party, I can't wait. (5th time to the island for me)
As said previously, bring plenty of cash as the drink prices and entry fees for the clubs are shocking.
San An is prob a place to avoid - it's turned into every other Mediterranean 'strip' with a load of cheesy bars and people trying to get you to go in. Ibiza Town/Playa d'en Bossa is the place to go, as it's within walking distance to Space, Bora Bora and a short taxi to Pacha.
Amnesia and Manumission are in the middle of the island, opposite each other on the main road across the island. Manumission is huge but I find it's too big - the sound isn't the best. Amnesia is decent. But Space is the way to go, it is possibly the best club in the world.

Re: Considering An Ibiza Trip
SImon has been there more times than we have, so you might want to hit him up also. We love Ibiza Town, most of the hotels there are wonderful, you'll be there during the warmest and busiest time, be patient and make sure nobody steal your cab when it's your turn. Taxis only pick up passengers at designated stops throughout the Island . I like Bora Bora during the day.Try to go to Cafe Mambo, and Cafe Del Mar and see the sun go down. On your Space night, there's a lil bar across the street from Space that has free , and or discount tickets for Space if you buy a drink or two there, you might want to pre party there. PM me if you want more info. :)

make sure u go see matthew dekay if he's there
Re: Considering An Ibiza Trip
I almost made it this year until my girlfriend realised we would be a stones throw from Space. She then booked a week in Monorca:( probably not a bad thing though. It means I will save some cash.

I never really got why everyone preferred Mambo over Cafe del Mar. I thought it was a much better bar. I suppose the draw with Mambo was the big DJ’s would spin there in the evening. Last time I went to Mambo Roger Sanchez was spinning, you couldn’t stop and watch him though, and security would move you on.

Re: Considering An Ibiza Trip
Just got back - can confirm that John is playing the New Terrace in August with Fatboy Slim supporting Coxy in the Discoteca - keep an eye out for the wristbands handed out on the beach or at the likes of Bora Bora or grab a flyer - this gives you discounted early entry of €10 entry 8-10 & €20 from 10-12 (catching Coxy at 11.00 on the Sunset Terrace is essential anyway).
Have a few drinks before you go in - it's €7 for water €10 for beer and €13 for spirits/mixers ... I'd recommend the latter as e.g. Jack'n'Coke is very strong, so not too many needed.
Space is an awesome club - so have a great night :P
Re: Considering An Ibiza Trip
Everyone's pointers much appreciated! :D

Sad on Cafe Del Mar!!!! I didn't know more people preferred Mambo over Del Mar, I just knew that Mambo opened before Cafe Del Mar, I would make a day out of it, so I'd eat at Villa Manchega by the runabout and walk to those two spots. Good to know though. :)
Re: Considering An Ibiza Trip
It's amazing how out of the way Mambo and del Mar are really, I remember walking up that long street to them thinking 'it surely can't be at the end of this can it?'. It's not exactly the best area either is it?!
I NEED to get some of these 10 euro wristbands you refer to simon - sick of getting mugged off on entry prices, regardless of how good the club is!
Re: Considering An Ibiza Trip
im heading over on 7th sept. gonna catch guy gerber @ space, sven - villalobos etc @ cocoon, maybe joris voorn @ space.... DC10s is open again this year so will be going along to circo loco.....not early morning but you may be interested in checking it out during the day..... my advise would not to stay san antonio. playa den bossa is 5mins from airport and has the beach @ bora bora plus Space is on your doorstep. the only reason i would go over the other side of island to san an is one eve to have some eats and chill at cafe del mar for the sunset....oh and yes bring loads of $$$$ you will be needing it in the clubs especially.....try to get well pissed b4 you go inside! and wear your seatbelt!
Re: Considering An Ibiza Trip
Yup I've been doing some additional research aside from just asking on here...really sounds like a trip I should be taking.
Found out today though, that none of my friends can go, not even one, so I'm a bit stuck. Never been planning to be this far away from home without at least one person I know very well...all in all, I'm a bit concerned about traveling there alone and having nobody to lean on if something happens. Any words of encouragement or dissuasion in this situation?
Anybody here going Aug 14th to 21st and at least want to meet up at the events and have a brew?

Fuggit, hotel & flight booked...can't wait!

Yeah, I saw that, great week of shows there, so many to choose from but probably won't make them all.
8/15 Zabiela @ Space w/others 8/16 Hawtin & Dubfire @ Amnesia 8/17 Cox & Digweed
- Seaman, Tenaglia & others to fill the rest of the week
Re: Considering An Ibiza Trip
Doing Space on the Tuesday 17th with Cox, Digweed, Fatboy
Then Pacha on either 16th for Swedish House Mafia or 18th for Morillo
'Cheap' night on the other night I suppose!
Re: Considering An Ibiza Trip
I'd recommend Luciano's Cadenza night @ Pacha - great atmosphere and decent rooms, bit more underground :
Main Room Luciano Reboot Michel Cleis
Global Room
Cadenza Lab Mountain People
