Steve Porter's long awaited production/mixed album is on it's way... 13 more days till the prodigy of many of the world's top DJ's will have his name in the history books... Everyone needs to get out there and get this CD on the 22nd. Lets try and make this the best first day selling house album ever. :D Steve would deffinetly appreciate that. Save up your pennies for the next 2 weeks. $20, maybe more, maybe less, but absolutely sure to rock your ear drums till they're dancing in your head :!: :!: :!:

Saw him WEdnesday night at table 50 w/ like 40 people (btw-where were all of you?). He played a TON of great classics for all the party people, and a few new progressive house tracks he wrote. Love his remix of Britton's "am i on your mind"..He's got the midas touch. Long live Porter.

#336845Post 17 of 34

I have to admit, I haven't given Steve Porter much attention. I know OF him, I've heard a few of his tracks, but thats about it. I heard he killed it here in T.O when he played before Sasha.

Will look into this mix :)

Will it be a 2CD set? I hate single CD albums. They're just not enough.

#336848Post 18 of 34

It's a 5 track EP and it's pretty sweet. A little more mellow with some very different sounds.

#336851Post 19 of 34

Oh...wait...so its not a mix cd?

Doh...

That was the vynil ep that came out a while back. This time, its a mixed production album, 1 cd i think. Its supposed to feature Steve's original productions and his remixes. Thats what i heard of not long ago.

#336896Post 21 of 34

steve is one of the best DJ of the world!!!

#336913Post 22 of 34

Thanks the info man...

#336947Post 23 of 34

it would be better if it was an artist album, not a mixed one!

...(fuck pataky with a pneumatic hammer  )

Taken from www.djsteveporter.com:
Homegrown EP # 2 will be released this January, "Swanky" is featured on Felix the Housecats "Live from the Playboy Mansion" mix cd and the EP has been seeing regular support from Paul Van Dyk.
Is there another CD coming out in addition to EP#2? I had a listen to EP#2 last night and it's pretty good. Nothing too incredible, but some nice original sounds.

#337026Post 25 of 34

There's a good chance you'll be able to pick it up in a Music Man store. K-Records'll prolly stock it up as well. If not, you can always ask Josi to order it for you.

More detailed info on the album and Steve Porter.

Sasha DJ cohort, Sander Kleinenberg production star & Fade Records mainstay comes into his own

"The Homegrown album is basically a yearbook of grooves and melodies that I mixed together into one 14 track collage. It was about painting with different colors and growth as an artist, as I didn't feel satisfied just producing one-off singles and remixes anymore. DJing has always inspired my production work and I think the album reflects that. I wanted to make a funky, fun, colorful album with a balance of creative freedom and dancefloor tangibility. Having such an album to tour with really shapes the chemistry of your DJing style in such amazing ways too, not only having different shades to work with, but learning from the contrast between your records and others." -STEVE PORTER

The next generation of electronic music producers is gaining hold and leading the charge is DJ/production phenom STEVE PORTER. His prolific productions have garnered international attention and are propelling him into America?s future DJ star. He is now poised for his official coming out party with his debut artist album ?Homegrown? on FDS Recordings.

?Homegrown? is an amalgam of Steve Porter?s various unique styles and melodic nuances. The expertly mixed album brings together 14 original tracks. Some of which have already garnered wide attention with inclusion of the tracks on numerous high-profile dance music labels & compilations including; "Vodka Cranberries" on hot new label Nu Republic, "Definite Form" on Sander Kleinenberg?s Little Mountain Records and included on his recent Everybody CD for Renaissance, and most recently, the track ?Swanky? has been included on ?ber-cool Felix da Housecat?s upcoming Playboy: The Mansion compilation.

Once in a blue moon there comes along a prodigy that is noticed by the big guns and whose talent catapults them onto the world stage. From Boston to New York, Steve Porter has evolved from record store clerk to New England rave DJ to landing on the roster at one of the most prestigious booking agencies in the world. Steve Porter was discovered by Chris Fortier when Chris heard a CDR of his productions in 1999. Chris quickly brought him into the FADE Records fold. Soon thereafter, Steve was signed as the youngest member to join The Collective Agency; home to Sasha, U.N.K.L.E., Lee Burridge and James Zabiela. He began touring across the U.S., Canada, South America, Australia, Asia and Europe and has played alongside Sasha on the Airdrawndagger & Involver North American tours, Sander Kleinenberg on the Essential Mix Tour and also headlining a hectic schedule of national and international DJ dates.

Over the last six years, Porterhouse (n?e Porter?s House) has amassed a collection of over 50 singles and 28 remixes under his name and the many aliases (Agent 001, HDF & Bons) used to suit the mood of the song. His myriad of tracks have been dominating dancefloors globally with Porterhouse finding its way into the record boxes of everyone from Sasha, Lee Burridge, Derrick Carter, Carl Cox, Sander Kleinenberg, Mark Farina and Paul van Dyk. He currently is in the 5th year of a residency at RISE, the long-running and only afterhours club in Boston and headlined New Years Eve 2005 in his hometown at the largest club in the area, Avalon Boston.

His sound is known to his fans as ?Porterhouse,? an eclectic range of funked-up house beats with a techy-edge and twisted jams induced by his own re-edits and mixes that molds his DJ sets. When Steve walks into a record store he examines every genre, picking the top gems from Disco to Techno to Trance and everything in between. The essence of Porterhouse brings the energetic action to the dancefloor where the warm, funky basslines and cool percussion melt away any chin stroking pretensions and the resonating guitar & piano hooks lure you into an eternal groove. Make no mistake, Porterhouse is party house.

PORTERHOUSE ? the best cut on the dancefloor.

Re: Steve Porter-- HOMEGROWN

I have given this a few listens and to be honest, it didn't do much for me. I generally like Steve, just wasn't really feelin' this album.
