Soo .. what you think about it ?

For me: a sublime downtempo cd1, it's a very demanding genre for someone who doesn't do it on regular basis but hernan delivered a nice selection, highly enjoyable

cd2 is a prime example of hernan's position in house music industry. Stellar mixing, great atmosphere and selection, strong drive.

Lots of his own work makes me feel even better about it. 10/10

I would agree. Downtempo's not my cup of tea but still enjoyed it and cd2 is Hernan being Hernan. Quality progressive at it's best. CD2 will be in constant rotation, cd1 when I'm in a "Micko" mood.

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

So glad I ordered mine from two sources. I just got an email from Renaissance saying they are out of stock. Fortunately the other order is on it's way. :D

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

At first listen, excellent compilation from Hernan.. Both Cds are brillant... With a few more listens got the feeling this will be my fav... On cd1 Martin´s tracks are beautifull and "stole" the entire mix... If you´re on that mood, is an amazing mix to chill out a bit.. And on Cd 2, IMO this sound is the truly Hernan sound.. an amazing journey with lots of gold argentinian producer choons... I love the Hernan "producer" side aswell, he keeps his esence right there, great basselines and groove...

Top work from the man... 10 points!

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

I have it !!! :hooray: Presently blasting out on my sound system. I am so pleased I waited for Cds. Well actually I didn't wait as long as I was going to, I was going past Profile Music in Greville Street about an hour ago and Steve was working late , so I popped in to see when he would have it. He has it now !!!! despite the fact that I have one already on the way ,and another on order. there was no way known I could have walked out of that shop without it .

See the World is every bit as amazing as I thought it would be in the best quality!! As is everything else I have listened to so far. This is a perfect example of what you miss out on with crappy downloads !! There are sounds here that don't even register on the samples.:D

Hernan Cattaneo Dj/Producer :Respect::Respect::Respect:

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

CD 1 rocks. Can't find a single thing to fault, ending with Sigur Ros feels so naturally apt and beautiful. It's been a long long time since a mix got me emotional

Still undecided on CD 2.

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

In my opinion, both Mercurio's tracks are the best on the CD1, and about CD2, love Henry's track, and Guy J remix of ultraviolet.

All around, great compilation. CD1 is my favorite. Can't believe how does he gets me dancing at only 105bpm :p

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

CD 1 gets into some very minimal vibes at times and nearly ruined it for me. But CD 2 is the work that I've come to appreciate from Cattaneo. It's a shame I can't get into CD 1.

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

I don't understand why do people do digital downloads.??? The price between digital and hard copy isn't that far apart. But the sound quality is so much better on the hard copy .

#1388703Post 16 of 89

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

Convenience? Besides if it's 320kbps, it shouldn't differ from CD? Anyway I store everything digitally, just not a fan of accumulating stuff. At least hard drives are out of sight.

#1388704Post 17 of 89

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

CDS are aiff . I've actually been comparing with 320 promos and believe me, playing them through the same sound system, the cd sounds much better. Plus hard drives crash  Aside from anything else I like the pretty pictures

It comes back a bit to your 2D , 3D thing, I'm really happy with promos and live mixes in 320, ecstatic in fact. But if i can get it better . I want it better .

Btw isn't Itunes 256 max ??

I put the cds on my ipod in aiff , but I have to say I'm not confident that is much better at all. Even with sennheiser headphones.

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

plus the quality of burning a cd is rather low, although I will say there are higher quality blank cd's available.

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

CD1 is brilliant!! Loved it. On to CD2 ..

On the mp3 vs CD .. FLAC format is the way to go I think.

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

CD 2 is so so ... good moments but not consistent. I want to like it, I've heard it four times, I hear moments that jump out and then disappear. Maybe it's just not as surprising as CD 1, coming from Hernan.

CD 1 > second half of CD 2 > first half of CD 2

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

CD 1 > second half of CD 2 > first half of CD 2
I agree CD2 is not as surprising , which could be why so many people like it best. It's safe  For once I am taking the two CDs as separate entities. CD2 is just a wonderful example of the Hernan sounds we [nearly] all love :D Where as CD1 is edgier, even slightly uncomfortable, but so deep and rich !! Once you go with the flow it takes you to a whole other place. :D For me CD1 is doing what Hernan keeps doing , progressing. It's very, very special :D

Huggie , mainly agree with you , but there are a few tracks that, in the right place, could totally blow your mind in a club. :hooray: And you wouldn't have to be drunk

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

right, has some time for this finally. I have to say cd 1 is really really smooth I like the flow...i love the tracks and it just doesn't have anything missing. CD2 was a slight disappointment ... his previous renaissance was and still is mind blowing!

How does one convert CD to flac directly??

#1393291Post 28 of 89

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

When I was on PC, I always used EAC for ripping, and I'm sure it can convert CDs to FLAC.
Exact Audio Copy V0.99 prebeta 5 (including CDRDAO and Flac packages) last changed on 07.05.09

Thanks feather, its been a while since I've used EAC, lots of changes.

#1393339Post 30 of 89

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

^^ but basics are still the same. I use it since ages too and love it. Since the choice of the audio compressor is yours with EAC, you can also point it to a FLAC compressor or any other encoder you prefer.

This is Cattaneo at his best. Welcome back to South America 2010!. There is one track in each CD that I didn't particularly liked, but overall is a very strong release. I'm glad I got this one, go for it.

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

i know nick warren and dave seaman try downtempo discs occasionally, and while i enjoyed the warren stuff it didn't really resonate with me. hernan's downtempo disc is somehow true to what he does, and is what i expected of a chill disc! some of it sounds made for 105 bpm while other stuff sounds pitched down, and somehow it works. hats off! great release. cd2 is more lush prog grooves we've come to love from the man...

one of my favorite cattaneo vibes is his deep, moody stuff - first hour of adios yellow, [ms] 8th bday - and while i don't expect to get that on his comps i'm so glad he releases the live sets where he'll work from the lower gears in getting going... cheers, Hernan!

Re: Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance The Masters Series: Parallel

I have to say I would have left Mum - The Ballad Of The Broken Birdie Records (Hernan Cattaneo & Soundexile Edit) out of CD 1 and another one of CD 2. But I guess is hard to like every track in a comp...
