Steve Chipman, aka El Reyalto, has been a fixture in the Los Angeles dance music community for years, first as a writer for several online publications covering the scene and more recently as a DJ. His love for house music stems from the years he spent in San Francisco during the creation of the scene there and more recently his move to LaLaLand. Known for an almost encyclopedic knowledge of dance music, Steve is often spotted out and about at most of the major club events, easily identifiable given his height (6'8") and his penchant for wearing a crown from time to time.

In early 2004, Steve joined fellow rabid house fan Marc Gottlieb to create Sugar Ant Invasion. The duo crafts a distinctive sound from their love of house music with Marc favoring the dirty, tribal funk of East Coast house whereas Steve prefers the warm, Latin-tinged Balearic house. This range of house music influences allows the duo the luxury of getting the night started or driving some nasty groove until the early morning hours, taking clubbers with them as they invade dancefloors from coast to coast.

Under his guise as guise at El Reyalto, Steve has been involved with Friskyradio pretty much since its inception. As the resident house DJ and all around gadfly to keep Frisky from playing too much trance or prog, he also hosts 2 very popular shows, Sonidos Electronicos and Tech Coast Tribal. Sonidos Electronicos focuses on the diverse sounds of electronic dance music whereas Tech Coast Tribal is his bi-weekly show focusing on the driving beats of tribal house. He also occasionally joins with fellow Friskyradio DJ Jonathan Wong for their Clash of the Titans sessions.
First new show of 05 will air this Friday at 1PM PST. No, I'm not Spanish but I lived in Spain for a year and I thought a Spanish DJ name sounded cool :) Plus, it fits in well with the show's concept. I will post the TL and other info on Friday.
