bankrupt rumour doing the rounds?

anyone know if there's any substance to this

#1372328Post 2 of 47

Re: Matter bankrupt?

I had some good nights there and some not so good. The place was fucking nightmare to get to and the cab fare home was a joke. Hopfully Bedrock will move back to Heaven.

Re: Matter bankrupt?

Have seen the rumours on other forums but haven't seen anything from official news sources... I've never been there so can't say I'll miss it. Agree with chunky, Bedrock needs to move back to Heaven

Re: Matter bankrupt?

If Matter does go under Bedrock needs to move to fabric ;)

Re: Matter bankrupt?

bedrock 10.5 was an awesome night, bedrock 11 was not so good

and yes, it's a nightmare to get to

Re: Matter bankrupt?

Yeah some good nights and some not so good nights, Sasha at Matter was not so good, shame.

Move Bedrock to somewhere dark and dirty.

Re: Matter bankrupt?

Bedrock should move to Heaven where it started, provided they improve the ventilation system and get a new soundsytem! I am always up for fabric though ;)

bedrock at fabric would kickass!

Re: Matter bankrupt?

I say go back to Heaven.

Fabric is a fantastic club, but its main room capacity is smaller than Heaven's I think.

Heaven FTW!

I can't say I have ever had a good night at Fabric. I prefer Heaven

I would go for Heaven....but i guess it will move to Fabric. last time @ bedrock 11 a cab home cost 60 quid !!

Yeah my cab fare was the same. That’s more money than I spent getting in and on drinks. And also nearly as expensive as one of chunky's chicks

What about moving to Cable?

I've not been but Ren to nights there, anyone been??
What about moving to Cable?

Yeah i was thinking of this earlier today. I went to Bedrock at Cable earlier in the year it was better than the Easter Bedrock and to be honest is probably the right capacity for Digweed to play. He didn't fill Matter this year. I suppose playing Fabric though he will get top dollar.

Re: Matter bankrupt?

i don't think it'll be moving anywhere cos i don't think matter is closing

at the end of the day, it's worth the commute for the sound system

#1372550Post 18 of 47

Re: Matter bankrupt?

^ Didn't think much of the sound system when I went there, heard it has improved since though.
at the end of the day, it's worth the commute for the sound system
Its not. Maybe they should of laid on a free bus service back to the city centre untill the rail problems had been sorted out.

#1372610Post 20 of 47

Re: Matter bankrupt?

I've had great nights in clubs with OK sound systems and poor nights in clubs with great sound systems. The sound system is a factor but not the only one.

Oh man, I just remembered that I paid 70 quid to get to shepherd's bush!

Certainly the sound system is not the only factor, but combined with a long 8Hour Set in Room 1 then I would definitely choose to go. The crowd of Heaven on the other hand, we'll never get the chance to see it in any other Venue

#1372614Post 22 of 47

Re: Matter bankrupt?

i only went to heaven once for the easter party in 08 and though it was a stella set from digweed, the fact the booth is so high up didn't really appeal to me especially compared to 10.5 @ matter when digweed was in the ground level booth but at 11 he was on what was a raised dance area at 10.5 and it really wasn't as good an atmosphere. i personally felt the sound in matter far superior to heaven

Sasha himself said this on his twitter last night :

"Matter rip. It was an amazing space run by true music lovers trying to push the boundaries. But in a shit part of town" "I had 2 fantastic gigs there and was looking forward to many more. Sad news."

Re: Matter bankrupt?

Only went once, to Bedrock 11, thought it was ok, but agree it is a joke to get to - my mate drove but we couldnt even find the f***in place! We could see the Dome, but it's not signposted so we drove around for about 30 mins trying to find the car park!

Heaven is a decent club, take it back there!

apparently its true

#1372786Post 30 of 47

Re: Matter bankrupt?

dammit thats the first place i would have gone if i visited london again. really wanted to check that space out.
i do like super clubs with amazing sound systems. hearing sasha and diggers at crobar in nyc several times were probably the best times i had going out to their gigs. on the flip side, overcrowding always sucks especially in large spaces, but i dont think its as bad as like a pvd gig back in the days when lines would stretch across the block and u literally felt like sardines in a can.

I wasn't a fan of either club to be honest, so I won't loose any sleep. All those purists who just like "small intimate clubs" will be happy though.

Fabric is up for sale. Offers have to be in by Tuesday. Maybe Darren Hughes or James Barton will by it

The unfortunate circumstances where the fact that everyone got pissed off with getting to and from there so the stopped going. Inless someone buys it it won't be opening again.

Re: Matter bankrupt?

It's damn sad that people will let a little bit of extra driving get in their way of a great night at a fantastic club. Though I doubt that's the REAL reason. It's all based in rumors until the real truth comes out. And then it's probably still not going to be the REAL truth.
