[QUOTE=Dhar_2;852811]had problems with the pic uploader aswell!

it closes on its own and the last pic i actually managed to upload is out of format with the page.[/QUOTE]

It looks like Kamal installed an image resizer mod. It forces us to click a new window to view the full size image, but at least it should get us by until a better resizer mod is found

Where do you look up the Thanks you have recieved to see who they were from and for what?

[QUOTE=feather;852971]BTW I think the font for the Settings page can be smaller. Right now the left column is 'overshadowing' the subscribed threads and forums on the right.[/QUOTE] Thanks, I just fixed this. Let me know what you think now :)

I just updated all the quick reply buttons. Things should be easier to see when composing a message now

 I don't know how to do it. I looked around quickly and couldn't even see a way to do it from the admin console. According to its homepage, it should be possible:

I don't know yet but I'll let you know when I find out

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

ok, I think I got downloads working again. I added a tab to them at the very top, by "Forum". It could use a little bit more formatting to clean it up, but at least it's functioning again!

Let me know if you can/can't see them. It should be visible to everyone in the Downloads member group.

Cheers mate for the effort. It seems we are getting back to normal (well not only because of the downloads working again ...);)

I have flipped through the thread (56 pages!!!!) from the mod author and saw him mentioning two times that options he listed in the included features are NOT included in the vb4.0 mod yet lol. Searching for thanked posts was one and seeing a link to check out who said thanks was the other. So I guess we have to wait till he adds these options or look for another one after more important stuff was fixed. So right now you only see who thanked you inside threads and there is a summary of how often you thanked others and vice versa under your user details in your profile.

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

Old youtube links using the [YOUTUBE] tag work again but only if you didn't enter the full URL. I am trying to see if I can find a solution so both ways to post a video using the YOUTUBE tags in older postings work again. If you want to use the new "widescreen" embedded videos, please use the new tag [videos] [/videos] or do it from inside the WYSIWYG editor when you make your posting.

#1361869Post 172 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

OR you can just paste the youtube link in the post without adding ANY tags and it will still embed the video (provided the video service provider's service is encoded into the add on.

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

Yeah that's a cool feature for new posts but so many old videos don't show up anymore. I'd like to have them all back.

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

I am diggin it!

#1362015Post 175 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

well we're thinking of running a script that will delete the text [YOUTUBE ] and [ /YOUTUBE] on the forums so that it starts showing the videos but we can go with this too.

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

is it just me, or were the photos posted within threads larger than they are now? they seem to be resized even smaller now, but maybe I'm seeing things?

#1362029Post 177 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

Yeah they don't resize like they used to

#1362033Post 178 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

^like yesterday they seemed to be larger (which was great) but today they look small, specifically the width of the photos.

#1362034Post 179 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

There's the Link icon which uses a Firefox dialog box to enter URLs, and the Picture and Video icons which use this 'lightbox' interface instead. Is this lightbox interface slow for anyone else? It's very slow on my machine, I see the spinning circle for a few seconds compared to the Link dialog box which is instant.

Is there a way to revert to using built-in dialog boxes or an option to NOT use that lightbox effect?

[SIZE=2]I just checked some and they are narrower than yesterday. I find the spell checker more infuriating, normally I just type fast and quickly check any mistakes. Now when I check the reply box turns blank.[/SIZE] [SIZE=2] [/SIZE]

You'll have to brush up on your spelling is all :)

Thanks for checking on that Chunky, guess my attention to detail hasn't been completely lost during this recession after all

#1362075Post 182 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

I did a search on the vbulletin site for a 4.0 spell-checker mod, but didn't see any. I don't know how partial you all are to Firefox, but it has on the fly spell-checking for all text boxes. Remind me in 6 months or something and I'll see if anybody releases one

#1362203Post 183 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

There were some problems viewing polls. I just adjusted the style sheets a bit so they should look much better now

#1362248Post 184 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

Digging the home page and the content. Would be cool if vb4 has some kinda 'magazine cms/mod' for the home page so it's more visual and the layout's better.

#1362269Post 185 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

What do you mean? It's pretty configurable... let me know what we can do better!

#1362271Post 186 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

Oh I was just thinking of [URL="http://blogof.francescomugnai.com/2010/01/wordpress-as-a-cms-30-amazing-examples/"]Wordpress themes like these ones[/URL] which give them a more 'magazine' layout. The [ms] homepage's current layout is like a blog. Anyway it's not a big deal, just thought a more visual layout would do better justice to posts like simonr's Kiss writeups and Mcast session writeups.

#1362274Post 187 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

Find me an example :)

#1362335Post 188 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

I linked to a page in my previous post but hypertexts don't seem to be differentiated in a post, look like normal text.

Here's the link for an idea of what I'm referring to: [URL]http://blogof.francescomugnai.com/2010/01/wordpress-as-a-cms-30-amazing-examples/[/URL]

I have a feeling vb4 probably won't have something like this though, this is more of a CMS thing.

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

I hate the thank you function !! It looks gratuitous and unbalanced . To be honest you have to have a thumbs down as well. Although I would prefer that people post what they feel without either. I was glad when you got rid of the rep system. To replace it with this just doesn't work for me.

#1362406Post 190 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

^^if i was to use this function it would be for this post i dont like it either is nothing wrong with saying thanks to someone works well in a P&R forum i'd much rather see the option of "like" and "dislike" to someones post

#1362407Post 191 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

^^^ Or even approve /disapprove

#1362412Post 192 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

i think the problm with rep system was that it was anonymous so some people got offended by the comments they received and on the other side some ppl dared to be offensive just because it was anonymous, also the calculating + and - kept some in the reds i'd recomend like or dislike (approve /disapprove) without keeping track of the numbers

#1362413Post 193 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

Completely agreed, Kat!

#1362422Post 195 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

A forum-wide option to hide the Thank Yous in a post would be nice too if we rather not get caught up in the whole rep mentality again, plus the 'thank yous' interrupt the flow of a thread.

#1362442Post 196 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

How?

[QUOTE=DIDI;854229]I hate the thank you function !! It looks gratuitous and unbalanced.[/QUOTE]

#1362444Post 197 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

^^^ I was wondering the same thing Kamal.

I think its a good idea, but I really wish you could see how you got a thank you without having to sift through threads to find it....I know Tom and Adam have looked, but its just not available right now (or something to that effect)

#1362474Post 198 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

I still think there should be a direct link to MCast somewhere on the front page or the forum home page, unless i'm missing something I don't see any

I also don't really see the point on having the recent polls on the front page.. hardly any one votes on them, and they're typically irellevant to the over all content of this community.. those along with the mercuryserver news posts on the front, someone who has never been here hits the site for the first time and sees polls about vaccines and obama and a couple of posts that we've upgraded and hernan gets a new comp.. just doesnt seem to give a good first impression

#1362483Post 199 of 332

Re: A big change is on its way...[vb4 upgrade]

I added a tab for MCast next to Downloads.

I also like the polls, but I can see your point here. I pulled them down for a bit
