yay my iphone 3g can't do all the new stuff that 4.0 will be able do...unless i had jailbreaked it when i bought it....in which case i'm already doing everything that 4.0 will be able to do8)

I love the iPhone! They are making some very positive changes with this O/S and it will make it that much better. This is going to be perfect because as of right now with my baseband, I can not jailbreak mine :(

but seriously, with the already FUCKING ABYSMAL battery life on the new iphone - is this a good idea? I mean, i love my iphone, have loved them since i got a 1st gen one, had it for 2 years and smashed the screen by accident. Before i killed it, i noticed that the battery only lasted for 2 or so days between charges... thinking this was a sign that it was time for a new battery soon.

I was fucking gobsmacked about the battery life on the new phone. I was so fucking pissed off that i thought it must be defective. I had tests done, and compared with other friends who are getting at the most 24 hours battery life with LIGHT USEAGE and mine seemed to get better battery then some of theirs did.

from what i gathered, the battery has a much lower capacity compared to the old one.

To put this into perspective for you guys, i charged my phone, went to bed and it sat on the table next to me. In the morning, after the phone had sat there for 7 hours, not had any calls or txts = notifications turned off, in a FULL COVERAGE area, it was at 70% battery life. When i got to work, i had to charge the phone by mid afternoon, otherwise i knew it would run out of juice by the time i was supposed to be meeting my girlfriend for dinner.

This is a fucking joke. I pay 1300$ for a phone that cant make it a day - bearing in mind this was with practically NO USEAGE AT ALL. no calls, no txts, about an hours playback on the ipod, no internet shit, and so on.

What i can imagine is them releasing this update, it being awesome, but the phone lasting for 12 hours with normal use.

This is not fucking good enough. the old model used to give me * FUCKING HOURS OF PROPER TALK TIME between charges, and last for more than a couple days without me even breaking a sweat.

dont get me wrong - the 3gs is a much better phone functionally, but in terms of power consumption - its bollocks.

O, and not to mention that the screen on the other models is practically impossible to scratch, but the 3gs scratches easier then a vinyl record. now i have a first gen with a smashed screen, and a big fucking scratch on my new, otherwise completely immaculate iphone 3gs.

I thought the 3gs had a much better battery life. I have a 3g and love it! I get about 36 hours with light use and 24 with heavy use. I hope the new one gets a better batterie since I´m planning to upgrade this year.

I am new to the Iphone game, only got one cause my friend sold me his 3G one for a good price, he got a 3GS. Have to say i really like it, lots of cool apps and use the IPod alot for listening to tunes.

I can understand why Apple won't have multitasking for the 3G but still a shame, not that i really need it although it would be a nice function. I just hope all the other new 4.0 stuff will be included in the download for 3G.

The battery is the shittest thing about the Iphone alright, but i don't know if this is specific to it. I think we need a new battery source now, lithium ion batts just aren't cuttin it for energy draining smart phones. Wonder what the nexus one and new windows 7 mobile are like on Batt life?

iPhone seems ok for me cause i don't take many calls, i send a good few texts and use apps daily. It does suck changing from a older phone that will last 2/3 days to an iphone.. Can't beat a shitty old brick phone..

^^ don't forget that we are talking about Apple here.. they basically make disposable products. You cant even change the battery on your iPhone.. u have to send it in and they will charge you way more than the batt is worth. Every batt has certain amount of charge cycles, considering that the battery life of the iphone is not that great to start with it only gets worse. And then...u buy the new one this coming summer, and next summer..yup u buy the next one.

I just got a new battery and a new housing for my Nokia E71 ... it looks brand new. And i've been multitasking with it for a long time :lol:

I have 2 iphones, a 3G (unlocked & jailbroken) and a 3Gs. The battery on the 3GS was horrible when I had the 3GS unlocked, now that it isn't unlocked, it is better but nothing to get happy about. I wouldn't trade my iPhone or Macs for anything! Some things aren't for everybody...

by the way - with over 10 years experience in the industry - talking corporate phone sales and support here - bberry is certainly NOT the way.

dont get me wrong, they were good a while ago, but the sony ericsson p1 was a better phone than any bberry ever released - and i think ericssons are fucking crap generally. Thats saying alot for me.

bberry only had one advantage - bes - now that other phones are featuring exchange support and kicking the bberrys ass, i wish that stupid company would curl up and go away.

honestly, the iphone revolutionised communications because its a beautiful device that is a 'one stop shop' for people = who wants to carry phone, pda, and ipod when you can cram them all into one device that does a better job then the individual devices anyway. gps saves my ass when im lost, i can email, i can listen to my sounds, i can watch vids, i can game, i can surf the net, i can get an app for just about anything i can think of, while on the go, and i laugh at all the gits squinting at those tiny bberry screens and punching the shitty keypads, that ALWAYS fuck out.

I can think of at least 30 customers that i know who have bberry 8100s and 8310s that have had the keypad fuck out under GENTLE USE. its so common now that when we are logging fault tickets at work, the techs are like, oh, yeah, bberry, what model, uh huh, keypad? yep, thought so... there are a couple other faults they do but thats one of the most common i can think of that happens to at least 30% of the bberrys that i deal with - and im not talking ones that have had liquid spilt on them or whatever. im talking immaculate, carefully used blackberries, that fuck out without abuse.

now when i see people with a bberry, or a nokia "smart" phone, i just laugh, shake my head and think - should have got an iphone...

and i am by no means a mac fanboy = at all. i would never buy one of their albeit beautiful pcs running linux in disguise, but one thing is certain - i am iphone for life if they keep up the good work.

but hey, my opinion is just that lol

as long as they charge 4 times as much as the same machine in a non apple case, no i wont my darling... no i wont...

id rather kit my house out with a couple mean pcs or a nice one and a cheap file server for the 4k it costs for a high end mac... considering that the mac will look old the next year anyway.

That's the one !! love it!! When I was without a screen for a while and used internet cafes, I really got to appreciate the sloped mac keyboards. Flat ones really are awful.

my keyboard at work and also home. couldnt live without it - ugly, but it rules. i havent had wrist pain in nearly 2 years with this.
