!K7 have tapped UK-based artist James Holden for the next edition of DJ-Kicks.

The new mix CD will be Holden's first release since The Idiots Are Winning, his album from 2006. Earlier that year, Holden demonstrated his eclectic mixing skills on At The Controls, a compilation that wove together minimal and tech house tracks with indie, kraut rock and experimental selections. The tracklist for his forthcoming DJ-Kicks is similarly diverse, with tunes by spaced-out artists like Caribou, Mogwai and Walls, as well as Kieren Hebden (AKA Four Tet)'s collaboration with prolific jazz drummer Steve Reid. DJ-Kicks will also include a previously unreleased track by Holden, entitled "Triangle Folds."

!K7 have also announced that the following edition of DJ-Kicks will be mixed by Kode9, the UK bass innovator behind Hyperdub Records. Details on that compilation are still forthcoming, but the scheduled release date is June 21st, 2010.

Do whatever the fuck you want to do with your hair but just get back to making really layered, detailed tracks instead of that 80's Video Game bleepbloop vomit.

Hes a good bloke but that hair is nonsense. I ended up chatting to him before a gig two years ago, was really decent and played some cracking tunes that night.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the Hawtin-esque hair cut, at least he's moved on from the Hobbit/LOTR/deer in the headlights look he was sporting when he did the Balance cd's:
