and, of course, my girlfriend who took me there for our first date, I got engaged last night in front Vinyl (well, the dark n dirty place formerly known as).

Thanks to Rich Woods - best NY dj out there, btw - for unknowingly supplying the background music... Spulig part I was bangin' on the stereo of what was supposed to be a tasteful limo but, thanks to a mix-up, ended up being a 30 seat stretch Hummer  It was out of control - marble floors, white leather, mirrored ceilings, ridiculous lights - everything that we loved Vinyl for NOT being... couldn't have been more appropriate.

Anyway, for those who knew, loved, and now miss 6 Hubert Street - that was for you too. :Respect:

Thats sad to hear. Shelter was a fav spot for my good friend Tippy.

Oh and congrats on the engagement man! 8)

I don't think they mean Shelter on 46th St., that's still open.

ARC was called Shelter before it became Vinyl. The Shelter people then bought the Speeed building where they are now.

I agree on both points. It was shit hole, but I definately miss it - there was just something about it. I was also there for Howells on 2/03 so can relate to that as well. My favorite Howells night there was a couple of months earlier for NYE when Danny brought tonz o funk!
