Re: When you are not listening to EDM....

music is my hobbie - so I listen to all kinds of everything depending on mood, circumstances, company.

hard rock, heavy metal, pop, rap (not the really hardcore stuff), some jazz (but its better live), blues, ambient, some stuff that fits no category.

great music is great music! and variety is key.

Re: When you are not listening to EDM....

You people should check out Peter Kruder - Private Collection Vol. 1 It´s a really nice mix cd, most of the tracks are what I would call alternative rock? or indie? I love this cd and find it to be a really personal mix made by Kruder.

Quote from Kruder:

The initial idea for this compilation came after I played a series of concerts that were called "The Listening Sessions". Bringing people into great sounding venues with an amazing sound system and have them sit down and just listen to music for two hours. A rare feat these days as most people just don't take the time to sit down and listen to music without any distractions."

MUSE! excellent! I love them, it´s a nice mix of alternetive rock and... I don´t know... classic? vals? electronic? I watched them live and they give a great show. Last cd ("The Resistance") is very interesting, it reminds me to Queen.

btw, I don´t know something similar....

Re: When you are not listening to EDM....

Always been a bit of an Indie kid on the side - britpop era stuff in particular (though not just the usual suspects, as much as I love Blur, Radiohead etc. - stuff like Scarfo & Whipping Boy too) as that was when I was in my late teens / early 20s and it therefore struck more of a chord.

Not the biggest fan of rap but appreciate a bit of Roots Manuva, Tribe Called Quest, Saul Williams.

Will listen to pretty much anything that's interesting either lyrically or in the way it's put together. Or both.

Guilty pleasure is the Pet Shop Boys. Them and Depeche Mode are the 2 bands I loved as a kid and still have a lot of time for these days. It's not hard to see how their sound fuelled my love of EDM which manifested itself in the likes of LFO, The Prodigy & Altern 8 in the early nineties. Haven't looked back since!

Agreed. I think U2 & DM was my #1 fav for a very long time, then when Pearl Jam/grunge came on the scene, I started getting into the heavier side of rock ie. Tool, Staind, Living Sacrifice, Deftones and even ventured to the growlin kind of metal with my favourites being Zao and Norma Jean

I did forget to mention The Beastie Boys, always throw it in when I need something different.
