Re: How did you find Mercuryserver?

I was googling for a particular Sasha set--I don't remember which one--and this forum kept coming up.

I of course had to register in order to access the d/l link, so I did.

hooked ever since

Re: How did you find Mercuryserver?

I believe I saw something on the Bedrock board, I would download sets and not post... Then one day, I couldn't download anymore( Banned from downloading ). I started posting, got flamed a lot, it's funny I stopped downloading from 2005 to 2009. :D

Re: How did you find Mercuryserver?

I searched once ages ago for some Hernan traccklists and found this place. Didn't really know what the whole deal was i just used to check the tracklists and go. Did that for years before i realised what ms actually was and signed up proper. forgive my lack of internet wisdom but i was amazed when i realised there were pictures here, sets, people etc etc I thought it was just some sort of archive - whoops

I even remember getting happy birthday emails from some guy called Kamal and i used to think "what a nice bloke - whoever the fuck he is"

Re: How did you find Mercuryserver?

I use to be on another board (drawing a blank on the name atm for some reason) and it was going downhill in 2005 so another member found this wonderful site and told me about it. dek0021 has vanished from this site (but not my life as we still talk from time to time) as he has since married, etc., but I have stayed. I guess you are all stuck with me!!

Re: How did you find Mercuryserver?

I'm pretty active on TranceAddict.com but do get annoyed from the child-like flame wars, so often use google to find other music-minded sites. I heard a ROCKING set on satalite radio today (Luis Junior, guest dj to John Digweed, Transitions 285) and immediately started google searching to find the set so I could hear the tantalizing beats once again. Ended up here--the conversation looks quality and the members look informed. I'm looking forward to seeing what the community here has to offer in terms of electronic music!

Re: How did you find Mercuryserver?

Wowza...I did not know the profiles still exist. This was mine:

http://www.audiogalaxy.com/user/profile.php?&uid=22482120

One of the entries in my favourites: Tiesto

"if you want to party, he is your man. Quite fast sort of uplifting trance with unique songs"

and the 1st line in my basic description

"Hi, hope you like the music you are downloading from me. I am crazy for good, progessive trance music"

I also remembered my username again "turmistdummoder". In a 1:1 translation to English this means "tower-is-dumb-or?" I know I wasn't able to pick a username because every single one I tried was already in use. After almost an hour, I ended up with this complete bullshit username. That's also maybe why I first was refused when I wanted to enter the Kiss100 group. Damn Ahmed and Sheppie. :p

Re: How did you find Mercuryserver?

I remember looking for more info on Kiss100 shows in 2003 - a post on a random forum suggested checking out Mercuryserver

It was a case of :HolyFuck:

... wish I knew who posted now :what

After initially being worried by the level of newb flaming :Boom::shock: I sticked with it in the background and got more and more involved.

I've met some great friends here and had a lot of amazing nights out with them - nights I'll cherish forever, plus started to get involved with the show that brought me here in the first place.

That's magic of music, the internet and [ms] all rolled into one.

Thanks Tom, you'll probably never realise how much we're all indebted to you & how much we each truly appreciate your vision, hard work and dedication

BTW ... please all remember there's a "donate" button ... even the smallest amount helps keep [ms] up and running.

Re: How did you find Mercuryserver?

I found MS from Hernan's forum. Looking for metrodance shows !! Although I was so illerate at the time I couldn't find anything anyway  And I never thought I could think of enough to say to post enough posts to download anything anyway.

When i came back I finally knew enough to really appreciate MS. Although there are still places I've never been to here. :)

Re: How did you find Mercuryserver?

Can´t remember how I got here. It was early 2002 and my best guess is that it was mentioned in Digweed´s website/board...

Re: How did you find Mercuryserver?

Aleks_B & Dancing Queen - ah, fellow TranceAddict.com experience people. There's some great conversations on there about music...but it's 1 post for every 1000 useless posts about garbage and bitching... I write my reviews on there and get fantastic feedback, but yeah, mostly it's just highschool bitch-backing.

Already have gained so much musical knowledge from this site, and loving it. I don't even care if the downloads lights up for me. ;) The conversations here are worth the time.

Re: How did you find Mercuryserver?

Nice thread.

I lurked around the gu board eons ago!!, but there wasn't much action. I heard from certain members there was a wonderous land on the iternet that just went by [MS].

people were keeping it a secret and would not divulge the actual place. I actually think it was an exclusive thing at the time..you had to know people who knew people; no what Im sayin'.

Anyway, found it somehow from the gu board and everything that was said of this place was true!

I've been here ever since and never went back to gu.

How I found gu is another story..which I dont remember and could care less.

I think I´ve remembered. I got a copy of Cattaneo´s 2001 guest mix and went to the old http://www.arts.ualberta.ca/kiss/index.php (no longer working) to find the tracklist. I think there was a link or something to MS...
