I got a $35 gift card to Tower and I just could not make up my mind on which of these to buy.

GU Toronto (Deepdish) Yoshiesque 2 (i have the 1st one) GU Digweed (L.A.) GU Digweed (Hong Kong)

Have not heard any of these so dont know which is better.

I was also contimplating on a chillout style cd like Air or Theivory Corp.

ps. what do u all think of Sander's Essentiam mix cd? Any good. (kinda old)

Thanks!!

#324020Post 2 of 33

I would say go for Digweed (Hong Kong) Very nice Digweed ( LA) or get Yoshieque 2 rather than DD Toronto.

#324021Post 3 of 33

Desyn Masiello Original series. Go fresh or go home.

ps. They're all great cds you listed.

#324022Post 4 of 33

GU DIGWEED LA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The best ever ...

Re: Need suggestion in CD purchase

Tough choice...as said, "fresh is best" but of these classics, I think I would choose Hong Kong. First four tracks on the first disc go together like butter!

#324037Post 8 of 33

neil young's greatest hits. bought this about two months ago and it hasnt left my cd-player since. :D

but really, i would go for hong kong

lexicon avenue-here iam???remix)>luzon-bagiuo>cevinfisher-music saved my life>jean phillipe aviance-useless(dub)>medway flanker(best finish to a cd i have ever heard.) PS listen to it only once you et really stoned, its eye opening

Re: Need suggestion in CD purchase

Well, I do have fresh cd's. Desyn, JH balnace & Pappa's, Sander's two recent cd's... etc.

So far looks like it's between JD (LA & HK)

Need a little more advise,

Thanks guys, your the best.

p.s. actually looking for older cd's, thought these were a good selection.

:)

Digweed - L.A.

#324046Post 11 of 33

if you want something smooth. go get the original bedrock from diggers. smoothest mixing, great tracks. really classic CD, sounds better today than it did back then. and if you have a good stereo, turn the bass up, cause that bedrock CD has some of the best baselines ever. especially the bedrock remix of rising sun. shakes my house/

Re: Need suggestion in CD purchase

^^^ yeah I have that one. have the actually Cd and an mp3 version with a bit different selection, think it was "live at twilo" '99.

very good one. But I'm just thinking of these four. I'ts funny when you have a gift card, you want to get the best cd with other people's money for some reason, dont' want for it to go to waste. $35 is not bad.

thanks again.

So far poll shows

LA: 3 HK: 4

Digweed LA.

The opening is wikkid!

 1. Apollo Vibes - Pole Folder And CP
 2. Love In Traffic - Satoshi Tomie Ft Kelli Ali

One of the best transistions I HAVE EVER HEARD! Hands down for that.

#324066Post 14 of 33

Just buy both LA and Hong Kong and call it good.

#324114Post 15 of 33

Tough choice. But I would have to say Digweed-LA. As much as I like his GU-HOng Kong but LA is pure class all the way through.

#324131Post 16 of 33

I would go for yoshiesque over toronto - but don't expect it to be up to the standard of the first - it's good but not nearly as good!

#324133Post 17 of 33

GU LA and Hong Kong. Buy both since they both

Re: Need suggestion in CD purchase

Def. get Toronto and LA. One to shake your ass too and one to get twisted to.

Re: Need suggestion in CD purchase

Well, i would just like to thank all the input. It did make a world of difference!

After all the suggestions, I see l.a. and hong kong are the popular. I've decided to get both. I will be purchasing this on my break.

Thanks again, I know I could always count on all you wankers.

:) :) :)

Re: Need suggestion in CD purchase

GU DIGWEED LA.

IT'S GREAT. ONE OF THE BEST EVER.

#324637Post 23 of 33

John Digweed LA always had a few too many of those tracks with the big reverb scary noises for my liking. It was good at the time, but dated quite quickly. I may be alone in this judging by the other replies!

Another vote for Neil Young ... or Massive Attack 'Mezzanine'! My New Year's resolution will be to take more risks when buying music and not by so many by artists I already have lots by.

cheers, RH

Re: Need suggestion in CD purchase

I haven't heard Digweed's Hong Kong CD in awhile, but I can definitely say the LA one is good :)

#324700Post 25 of 33

Re: Need suggestion in CD purchase

Hong Kong

Still the best GU imo...

#324877Post 26 of 33

GU019 Los Angeles mixed by Digweed

#324939Post 27 of 33

Re: Need suggestion in CD purchase

I wasn't thinking about purchasing a cd but on reading this thread I think that GU Hong Kong needs to be added to my collection 8)

#325083Post 28 of 33

i?m with barney, desyn?s cd kicks ass...but out of those 4 i think i would go with GU los angeles...love that cd, shame mine is all scratched from listening to it so much

#325196Post 29 of 33

Re: Need suggestion in CD purchase

digweed in hong kong 100%

#325204Post 30 of 33

Digweed LA is a classic and I must have. Sander's EM is not bad... although there are better mixes out there (depending on your taste)

If you are buying a chill out album, get Kruder's Peace Orchestra or Thievery's Sounds From The Thievery Hi-Fi

#325222Post 31 of 33

Re: Need suggestion in CD purchase

I enjoyed Digweed-L.A., haven't heard Hong Kong-I was a bit out of the loop when that came out and still haven't heard it...I'm a loser for that....

#325243Post 32 of 33

GU LA the best cd ever made for me.

#325310Post 33 of 33

Digweed's Hong Kong is better than LA imo... LA is good, but just a bit dark and tedious after a while... HK keeps the funk
