As a representative from Canada I would like to officialy apologize for that bullshit on TV. None of that represented Canadians. I can assure you that everyone in the bar was not only booing but throwing food at the tv's when K D Lang was singing. I have never walked out of a bar with so many people absolutely ashamed of that(dozens). Every bar emptied when the ice fucked up and only 3 out of the 4 came out.

I mean we can count the screw ups.

 1. The Olympic flag catching a snag by the RCMP (someone better get fired)
 2. The delay in the ice coming from the ground
 3. Only 3 out of the 4 ice pillars worked

What a fucking Joke!! I have never in my whole life ever seen people throwing shit at the tv pissed..

What a disgrace!!!! We are better than that!!!

Anyone see that horrible footage of the luge death? It's supposed to be one of the most challenging if not the most challenging luge course in the world.

...and you don't have any snow either

The snowboarder intro was pretty cool though.

Re: Official Olympic Apology

You know what, dude? Yes, there was a significant glitch and unfortunately it came at the worst possible moment, but the overwhelming bulk of the opening ceremonies were amazing and flawless. That segment with the whales on the floor and the ice cracking was just astonishing.

Try to keep some perspective here. I realize it's your country and you want it to be perfect, but as an outsider looking in, I thought that taken as a whole, it was awesome!!!!

Apology accepted on the k.d. lang thing, tho...

Re: Official Olympic Apology

was it just me or did it look like a lot of the singers were lip synching. i can understand if they were, but try not to make it that obvious. :)

other than that, i thought it was an okay ceremony. not as good as china's but i still thought it was neat. that stadium is SWEET!

i heard about it, so sad only 21 years old :( yeah, it's meant to be the fastest and most dangerous in the world

Re: Official Olympic Apology

Yes that was very tragic :( and I thought the tribute to him they added to the ceremony was really touching. When they did the moment of silence it was incredible to see that many people unite as one to honour him.

As for the freaking out the way you are runningman, it is a bit much. It may not have been perfect, but who is perfect? I am still proud to say I am Canadian!!

Yes there was a pretty major glitch when they were lighting the torch, but they carried on. Wayne Gretzky, Nancy Greene, Catriona Le May Doan, Steve Nash and Rick Hansen (which I thought was the most powerful and meaningful selection to represent Canada in the final lighting of the Olympic flame) did a great job and didn't falter, despite the technical issues.

As for the rest of the ceremony (albeit a little long imo) it was done really well and they took the time to honour our heritage and I personally think they did a great job.

Re: Official Olympic Apology

I am still proud to be canadian.. But to have a hydraulic problem with all of the trades people we have in Canada is tragic to say the least.. All I did was apologize that KD Lang was there and that we can't make objects move. It was funny though to see people throwing food at the tv though..

The good news is that the mainstream media is beating us up just enough that we are now getting empathy.

Re: Official Olympic Apology

watched it. thought parts of it was pretty cool for sure, amazing imagery. i did lol @ the epic fail of the flame ceremony thing tho. i didn't know steve nash was canadian either.

Re: Official Olympic Apology

Re: Official Olympic Apology

just a little trivia: The boogie board was invented in the beach town of Carlsbad, where Sean White grew up in (and where I used to live, and will be moving back to shortly).

Re: Official Olympic Apology

Shaun White was friggin' amazing, just on another level entirely, both literally and figuratively. The fact that he didn't even need that second run and then went out and just blew it out as he did, just unreal. Would have been easy for him to just mail it in on that second run, but instead he goes for it and lays down a run that people will be talking about for ages. Only 23 years old, too. Crazy.
