We're two studio shows into 2010 and so far they certainly haven't disappointed ... you be pleased to know that T283 is just as high on quality and diversity as we get some more top notch up front electronic dance music.

Transitions 283 starts with two Josh Wink tracks from a new collection of exclusive remixes on his Ovum imprint reworking Josh's 4th artist album "When A Banana Was Just A Banana". The original of "Dolphin Smack" was a highlight of John's Bedrock 10.5 set aired last year - here remixer supreme Martin Butrich gives us a cool tech-laden update before Soma founders and Scottish EDM legends Slam up the pace with a techno maelstrom, "Everybody to the Sun".

Paradigma Musik owner Marc Marzenit returns after a massive 2009 during which his key Bedrock 11 contribution (Not Assigned | Expiritualized | Unexpiritualized) received fantastic feedback and plays from anyone that matters. Here alchemist Henry Saiz continues his ascent on the production world order with yet another fine remix - "ITS Caracas" that would be perfect for the Space Discoteca. Bedrock bring us two further originals from Marco Bailey's awesome "Watergate EP" that Diggers road-tested at Warehouse Project, Fabric and Together As One to a rapturous dancefloor reception - these high octane main room tracks are filled with Marco's personality and energy. Marc and Marco will be appearing in room 2 at the Bedrock Easter Party at Matter.

Pfirter and Junior Lopez (aka Flug) have been part of the Argentinian club scene for 10+ years. Pfirter has releases on Figure and Chris Liebing’s CLR imprint, Flug is influenced by Chicago and Detroit House. Combined "Blacksmoke" fuses South American house and futuristic club techno sounds with a more old school industrial vibe.

A true highlight this week is Tim Davison's update of progressive classic "The Hacienda Must Be Rebuilt" - part of the legendary 4 year Twilo anniversay set John aired in Kiss100's early days, with that iconic hook "it's just a feeling, gonna take you higher". Next Glasgow's Edit Select (aka Tony Scott who contributed to the Renaissance Mix Collection + Tenaglia's GU017 London) gives us "Bagan" on Berghain resident Len Faki's Figure imprint - originally a platform for his own work, but since extended to release quality productions from the likes of Santos, Alan Fitzpatrick, Slam and Pfirter. Bagan fuses progressive and tech house, morphing into one of those tracks that screams out for a large sound system and dark smoke filled space. Fantastic stuff !

After the brief glimpse of "Berns" (limited info) we start "Crackin’ Skulls", with a track recorded exclusively for Tresor by Hamburg's Remute (Denis Karimani) whose CV includes a rather tasty remix of Gus Gus's "Sling It". With Remute you never know what is going to happen next: here driving beats and hypnotic house breaks out into techno and then back !

This weeks guest is German house and Techno producer Rainer Weichhold, a favourite of Depeche Mode as well as a key part of Great Stuff Recordings.

As always, both sets are available now in the [ms] downloads section ;)

German house and Techno producer Rainer Weichhold came to peoples attention with 2007's Bamboo EP - the title track (Format B Remix) has been used by Depeche Mode as an opening for their latest "Tour Of The Universe" shows ! Rainer's tracks feature on Jim Rivers Nubreed and Sander Kleinenberg's second "This Is ..".

When he isn't in the studio Rainer is part of Great Stuff Recording's A&R.

Not sure at the moment ... could be under Bedrock re-licence or another Saiz version ? The Paradigma release is this:

ITS Caracas (Henry Saiz "Ayahuasca" Remix) [Paradigma Musik PARADIGMA 018]

Henry Saiz played it on his guest mix - haven't got around to comparing the two yet.

Re: Transitions (Episode 283) January 31st 2010

Thanks as always, Simon :)

It must have been Diggers who dropped the original mix of It's Caracas back at Air last May... it went OFF.

You said it, Homegrove. Glad to hear some real ass-shaking house and tech house from the Transitions guestmix. I was listening to this on the train on my way to work this morning and had to resist the urge to start pumping my fist :p

Sound 5 - The Hacienda Must Be Rebuilt (Tim Davison and Nicko Izzo Remix) [RIP Digital 042]

"This remix (which initially started out as a bootleg) is now getting an official release from RIP Records.

This house classic was originally released by Sound 5 on their debut album ’No Illicit Dancing’ on Gut Records in 2000. Signed by Rip Records and with their re incarnation as Soul Mekanik , Kelvin Andrews and Danny Spencer re - released this seminal E track with a Tarrentella : Redanka remix as the supporting role. 10 years on ripdigital gives all those’s who missed it first time round a opportunity to hear the message that is the essence of house music with two fresh and different remixes.

First up is the ME mix which is a mystery even to the record company. It was sent in with only the remix name as its identity. A slow funk workout with cosmic extensions leaves you almost horizontal and poolside. The otherside is well known duo of Tim Davison & Nicko Izzo.A modern upbeat affair created as a bootleg lets everyone known how relevant this track still is on the dancefloor."

Already supported by Sasha & John Digweed.

Congrats and let people know the release date ;)
