what's funny? it was a legit question.. we're thinking of booking him in Tampa, but i've heard he has a massive Ketamine problem and his sets tend to be hit or miss to say the least, so if you were going I was curious about how he plays :)

sweet. i've always loved avalon because they don't stop at 4am like vanguard or spundae or even at the mayan. plus, their sound system is far superior than the other places.

but, too bad i'm up here in san fran. :( but, i'll def make the trek to see digweed in march. :)

I am bummed out about this. I actually though Avalon's bookings the last year were pushing the envelope a LOT more than vanguard. Avalon was bringing in more techno underground edged acts. If you look at vanguard's lineups its been a lot of Guetta, Fedde Le Grand, Benni Bennasi type stuff. I would rather that crap stay at Vanguard and keep the Tiefschwaz, Anja Schneider, Steve Bug, Modeselector, MANDY, Claude Von Stroke at Avalon. Maybe the tech format stuff will move to/replace Friday's alt dance night? I mean look at Giant NYE party, it was trance garbage.

I thought about this and wanted to add that I really hope that the people who have been opening and hosting Honey and Jerry Lewis room get to keep on doing their thing. All of my local favorites like the music savages, droog/culprit, when they get Kazell to host a room etc. These other rooms add a lot to my experiance when I go to Avalon. So I hop ethey don't mess with that format. Giant's openers can sometimes leave something to be desired and are under communicated on flyers etc. I don't know if this was a function of the crowd at Vanguard or what?

Yeah, if they can get the old DJ bookings, they did the first time around it will be a hit, not sure I want to file in with the masses if they still plan on having the the booth down on floor level, some great nights back in the day, Mayan as well, except for the last Diggers show, that sound system was shite everywhere except right at the booth. Last time I saw Angello he was a tosser, rehashing the style he Prydz road till the wheels fell off, not much better in Vegas though, Roger Sanchez and Funkagenda, jeez so hit and miss here, one month it's JZ, Lawler, and Burridge, then next month, Glaude, DJ Dan, and Guetta.

Dave Dean was responsible for some of the best night of my life when Giant was @ Circus... I know since then, his whole venue ordeal has taken a toll on my excitement for some of his parties. I feel that he'll finally be in a venue with a decent sound system. I hope he can book talent that attracts both younger clubbers and people like me... who really don't feel the stuff that has been floating around since 2005. Don't get me wrong, I don't wanna go to Avalon and listen to trance either. LOL :D

I'm with subdude on this one, LA was way better off having Vanguard and Avalon. Vanguard was focusing on the more commercial/mainstream artists and Avalon could pack it every week with their selection of underground music. Maybe the two of them working together can find a happy medium. Until then, we have such awkward lineups as Nick Warren versus DJ Dan & Donald Glaude :o

To be fair, I know that Dave would have kept Vanguard going if he had the choice. I hope the top dogs of LA nightlife can all peacefully coexist under the same roof.

yeah that alley sucks. i hate how you can see everyone. the alley at the Mayan is so much better because of the nooks and crannies so you don't have to see everyone's drugged out faces. haha.
