Billed as Sasha & John Digweed at the Warehouse Party in Manchester it was very much the case with Sasha of blink and you'll miss him:roll:

Scheduled to play from 1.30am until 5.00am John appeared promptly on time and played for an hour following on from the excellent James Zabiela who tore up the place.

Sasha appeared around an hour later and preceded to play for around 45 Minutes before John returned! John took over and started to pull out the peak time records!

Sasha slipped away into the night leaving us only with this picture as proof he was there at all

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

So what do you think Andy? Is he winding down a bit of late? Is he gonna take a break?

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

I think the shows should be billed as John Digweed and Sasha.

The same happened at the Warehouse show in Leeds in April, John again played the Lions share that night with Sasha disappearing not to be seen again that night either:(

He needs to step it up or step back! People are paying good money on the premise he'll do an equal stint and they'll play back to back!

It's not just the ticket cost! Its transport, £4 ago drinks and hotels

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

Do you sometimes think John must be one of the most tolerant blokes in the world?

#1312924Post 5 of 29

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

Yes John's good nature is part of the problem!

Even at Mansion in Miami in 2007 I remember John Playing the lions share but I left before the end that night so maybe Sasha came back and did more?

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

I've never seen a Sasha and Digweed show, but whenever I've seen Sasha he's put on an AMAZING show. I'll be sad if he's changed.

In either case, I'd still be totally happy to see them mix it up.

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

^ Absofrigginlotely! I really wonder what goes through his head when Sasha pulls this shite. Sorry to hear that Andy! I'd almost prefer a no show than be teased like that!!

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

I'm not so sure about that one!!

I've been on the end of a couple of no show's in my time to! They're the worst feeling in the world!

Sander K was even worse for that back in the day when he was playing music I liked

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

If a sasha no-show means you get more digweed then it's not so bad eh?

#1312944Post 10 of 29

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

Sorry I don't subscribe to that!

John does his own solo shows. Sasha his!

Sasha and John should be exactly that with near equal length performances. Not something that feels like a token appearance:(
If a sasha no-show means you get more digweed then it's not so bad eh?
I was thinking "Yeah totally!" then I read Andy's post and he's right. They did some amazing sets back in the day, but if you are co headlining, there should be equal work.

From the times I've seen Digweed, heard his sets and just hear him on his show, he's an amazing DJ (Duh) and a class act. The guy just oozes professionalism.

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

They're better solo anyway ;):p

i was there. no, actually sasha closed the night. one of the best performances i've seen so far. sasha ripped the floor apart that night. they played an hour each, then half an hour each, then one record and one record. he closed with that eraser remix.

it's a pitty this is happening more often with him nowadays. especially for all of us who want him in full form. is he losing the spirit?

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

Sasha back in Manchester usually means trouble!!!

Id be interested to see if he made it to Malta. Thats said Ive seen numerous b2b sets when Sasha hasnt let John anywhere near he decks for hours, so I think they just go with how they are feeling some tims.

He rocked that 45m mins but the weekend was all about John at Fabric, now that was special!!

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

Sasha actually opened ... on time ... at Air in May + plus he did the lions share at Space in September !

He and Harley (the guy that carts around all his gear and tries to get him to venues on time) were at Manchester airport at 8.30 ... with a 3-hour delay and they made Malta.

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

Be that as it may 45 Minutes is simply not acceptable from him and I believe I was one of many who felt let down by him.......again!:(

He should have a presence somewhere on boards like this and explain himself at times! I believe other artists would.

I also believe people at Global Gathering also felt suitably let down in the summer and some statement was forthcoming albeit from "Management"

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

His gig at MOS 2 years ago he turned up late for an extended set and the closed on time after advertising they where staying open later. It wasn't due to travel problems either as he was playing the whorehouse the night before. Hes doing a gig during the day in Madrid before the evening gig at MOS on New Years Day. Will he or won't he:?:

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

^^ ha ha ... I've e-mailed Harley instructing him to get Sasha there on time.

I can foresee Andy Newland having to cover for Sasha ... so he'd better pack Xpander, Scorchio, ADD and the Arkham Asylum EP !

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

I'm sure he won't let Ministry Of Sound down. To date his appearances there have gone without much of a hitch.

People pay way to much for a show they don't even get sometimes. I saw them here in March and it seemed as though John played twice as much as Sasha. Sad

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

The only Dj that gets kudos for turning up on time

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

on time? how about showing up at all, lol, pretty sad isn't it wonder how many other dj's could get away with missing as many gigs as he does and still get booked

#1313363Post 23 of 29

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

He is lucky to have John. The one time I saw them together it was like Sasha was this little kid flitting around, while John was the indulgent, serious parent
on time? how about showing up at all, lol, pretty sad isn't it wonder how many other dj's could get away with missing as many gigs as he does and still get booked
Isn't that the truth. Wonder why he can get away with it? Is he that good? Yes, but you can only screw people over so much before it has some sort of effect. But he's been doing it so long it is expected.

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

In all fairness, his Oz tour seemed to go off without a hitch. :) And people are forgiving, well most are

really? what makes you say that? I don't think he's ever touched a drop of alcohol

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)

Re: Blink and you could miss him:)
