I tend to get impatient and fast forward if a track is wack. what do all of you do to listen to a whole set?

Re: how do all of you listen to a set start to finish

Headphones at work, sit down, press play. Pause when some fuckwit needs something.

Re: how do all of you listen to a set start to finish

i usually scan before i even start listening in depth. honestly i depend upon the people here and their comments whether i give it a good listen.

and like feather, i listen to a lot at work and usually bugged when the set starts gettin' good. never fails....

Re: how do all of you listen to a set start to finish

I really like to listen to the lot to maintain the flow of the set.

I walk everywhere so if I'm out I have the ipod with good headphones. I work from home so I can listen on my sound system as loud as I like. :D

Re: how do all of you listen to a set start to finish

Ipod and my daily 8 km walks do the trick to play from start to finish.

Re: how do all of you listen to a set start to finish

whack tracks make the one that comes after a whole lot better :)

#1312511Post 10 of 72

Re: how do all of you listen to a set start to finish

Never ever ffwd - I always listen to the whole album or mix. Pisses me off if someone skips a track, like Didi I like to get the whole flow

Re: how do all of you listen to a set start to finish

That's why I still prefer to rip my music as a single mp3.
whack tracks make the one that comes after a whole lot better :)
exactly if you skip fwd you lose the flow, thats the whole point of a mix imo

Re: how do all of you listen to a set start to finish

If I don't like the track a DJ is playing in a club then I knock myself unconscious for 5 minutes and hope that the music is better when I come round again.

Re: how do all of you listen to a set start to finish

Well to be honest if a DJ is playing a segment of tracks that's really bugging me, I'd probably visit another room or some place to chill out and talk shit.

if there are too many of those in a row, just start poppin some roofies and go with the flow.

-edit

and btw, listening to the whole set > skipping through anyday

Exactly how you asked the question....From start to finish.... :Anal:

Re: how do all of you listen to a set start to finish

I go end to end as well, but if the set has not done something to at least make me a little interested in the first 1/3 of the set, I'll usually scrap the rest of it.

Re: how do all of you listen to a set start to finish

if the first couple tunes are well selected and well mixed, I usually decide to the give the set a full listen when time permits...

...if the reviews were overwhelmingly positive on MS I'll listen to some of it before burning it to cd and keeping it my car.

Speedy where exactly did u hear minimal in this set? I understand people coming to the conclusion that a set isn't your style but it's a journey we are taken on and if you're skipping through it you're losing part of the experience. imo of course I don't feel every track in a set but those tracks usually lead into something much bigger and better I think.

well whatever the crap was in the first 40 mins, I wasnt impressed.

#1312849Post 29 of 72

Re: how do all of you listen to a set start to finish

speedy sounds like a glowstick waving tiesto kandy kid.

The Xmas track started with a nice chuggy groovy feel leading to some percussion at the 15 min mark and then some nice spacey melody at the 16 min mark and maybe the 26 min mark it began to get a bit sparser and deeper.

You're listening to the wrong set or your ears are fucked.

That's your problem...

You may want to check out a Drum & Bass forum, or Tranceaddict.com ... They've got plenty of stuff for someone that likes speed in their rolls ;)

speedy, Your threads are irritating, they all seem to be creating a platform for you to insult the music most of the people here love. Not cool. Tranceaddict is definitely where you should be, they love hate threads over there. :D

Re: how do all of you listen to a set start to finish

As of late I've been a tool and haven't put forth the time to really listen to tracks, but I do like a lot of people do. Throw a couple into winamp/iPod and go at it. Winamp when I'm doing something on my computer (playing a game/using photo shop or a variety of things) and iPod while driving to work (lame car system) and while at work. If I had to listen to radio or something other than house music, I'd kill people. House music keeps me sane.....well pills and alcohol helps too.

last time I checked, the dominant music here is progressive house - am I wrong? thats what I like, not this new techhouse/minimal crap.
^ Possibly TheRealMike

anyone with a grain of sense knows the question was about the activities you do to listen to a whole set.
