Anyone going on a trip? Flying home? Doing a solo Chinese food night?

I am going to be cooking for 5, small and intimate but I am excited.

Re: What do you do for Thanksgiving?

nothing can top a full and complete traditional, home-made thanksgiving meal. family, food, celebration, long weekend, quality times -- it's all good.

Re: What do you do for Thanksgiving?

My wife and I have hosted Thanksgiving at our house for years now. Of course she does all of the cooking but I do the cleaning (it's the least I can do). We may ask for people to bring an item (other than food) but we provide all of the food and we wouldn't have it any other way!

Re: What do you do for Thanksgiving?

I'm always thankful to spend thanksgiving with my family in South Florida, where around 30+ or so aunts/uncles/cousins get together at my Grandparents house (both still alive and healthy) watch football, play card games and cook fresh and organic farm-grown food, which is nothing short of amazing! We used to get up at 4:00am and go turkey hunting, but nowadays we (10 cousins usually) go horseback riding at my uncles later in the day around sunset. In years passed when I lived in California if I didn't fly home for thanksgiving I spent it at my best friends house in Malibu or Studio City, those were good times to. He also has a big family and I had a great time spending thanksgiving with them, but always missed my family.

The menu usually consists of 5 - 10 different homeade pies: peanutbutter-cream pie is always my personal favorite. Turkey separated into dark and light meat, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans (my grandma makes amazing green beans btw), yeast rolls, corn (freshly shucked) various souffles, brown rise with musrhooms (so good). Plenty of sweet and unsweet tea...that's all I can remember at the moment, and now I'm officially starving .

Re: What do you do for Thanksgiving?

Going back to College Station, TX to go watch the A&M vs UT football game. Haven't been back to A&M in 5+ years so it should be a lot of fun......... especially if A&M wins and ruins UT's chances at a national title. Actually celebrating Thanksgiving on Friday with turkey and the whole nine yards.

That is really nice of you, I love hearing when guys help out. I cook dinner most night and clean up but on holidays my husband helps out with the cleaning...I just wish he did it on regular nights too lol.

Same here. I am going to make a turkey soup this year with the carcass though.

I am making a turkey, sweet potato souffle, homemade cranberry-orange sauce, homemade cornbread stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, pumpkin-bourbon pie, vanilla pudding pie in an oreo crust, my mom is bringing a deep dish apple pie, and I dont know what other desserts to have. I only have 5 for dinner but will have about 11 for dessert.

Re: What do you do for Thanksgiving?

We will be visiting both sides of the family. We had a baby this year so it will make it all the more special. I am making some homemade stuffing and mac & cheese to take with me. After all the family stuff is over, a couple friends and myself will try to drown ourselves in beer and mix till the early morning hours since no one has to work the Friday after.8)
