Re: Sasha@Fabric 11.12.2004......aural perfection

The night was a statement for those who do not believe in him... In my honest opinion I think he was better than Digweed and it was by far the best music I've heard so far and I didn't do any drugs. I can describe it in one word only.......... quality.

What ever he did and how ever he did it doesnt come into question, the fact is it was sheer class man, sheeeeeer class. <<this coming from a not so big Sasha fan. Why do lots of folk get hung up on this Ableton shit? ! Get over it, move on, its obviously the way forward.

#316596Post 9 of 76

amen to that mj. i wish people could just accept it and let him play. too many people want to analyze why he's doing what. get over it folks, IT IS the way forward.

#316606Post 11 of 76

I'm not hung up on it... just haven't seen anyone using it in a club before and wondered whether he was using more effects, samples, looping, etc.

Or maybe everyone was too mashed to notice
Or maybe everyone was too mashed to notice
Who...me?

To be honest, apart from the mind blowing tracks he played i have no idea what he used. Maybe one of them sad little fellas who stand at the side of the dj booth for hours on end will be able to tell you though. Man i wish i could get hold of this set just to show the anit-ableton crew what the future holds.

Re: Sasha@Fabric 11.12.2004......aural perfection

Because for many of us, it's not the way forward ;). He's an artist now and no longer a dj. Next we'll be seeing him out there with a Korg and Ozone.

#316667Post 15 of 76

^ i say bring it on. if it's making people dance and scream, i say its good.

#316670Post 16 of 76

Damn right Jib, it`s all about the music. I for one never go out to watch the dj, i just go to get lost in the music he/she plays

#316674Post 17 of 76

wtf, he sucked in ny :x

#316681Post 18 of 76

^^Well in my opinion he was far from sucking last night. I left at 7am and the place was still going off.

Saw him in Dublin. Was a bit disappointed. Played some great tunes, including Holden's - Safari (MASSIVE BASS) and a remix of Hazy Way, that smashing pumpkins remix and that tune with the lyrics "Satisfaction" in it. A real deep, trancy set, tunes you get lost in for about 20 minutes at a time. Everything had a real mashed up feel to it. There was a sound quality there that I don't think I've ever heard in a live set before. His ability to control the tempo was been greatly improved. It was amaxing to here such intense breakdowns.

You might be wondering way I was disappointed. Well I didn't think much of the crowd there. There was no reponse off them for a lot of tunes. It felt like they were all asleep. Maybe the tunes had carried them away. Also Sasha finished his set on Magnetic North which is a great tune but not the big tune you expect him to finish on. Felt more like a bridging track. In his Puerto Rico set from last week he played another three or four songs after this. I get the feeling he ran out of time and the Red Box finshes strictly at three. He just kind of faded the track out!

I'd give it a 7/10 but the points being docked are more a result of external factors than Sasha himself. I don't think I have ever been as carried away by a set before. An amazing musical journey, just a shame it didn't get to reach its climax... Will just have to go over and see him in Fabric next time...

#316735Post 24 of 76

DOes he now have an official 2 months residency at Fabric?

THey should bring him so often that it is not that crowded..
