I read an article from Sean Q6 a while back about the fact that stores cant really legally search your things when you leave. I decided to put this to a test. I went to Best Buy with a book bag, yes I as bored and had nothing better to do at the time... So i walked in and this girl says shes going to check my bag when i leave, i sort of ignored her and this bitch says COMPRENDE??? Im not even spanish but that is besides the point... SO i went looked for what i wanted to check a price for and i left. The girl says I need to check your bag, so i said No. She asked again and reminded me of what she said, and i said i know what you said but im not going to show you. So she caled a manager who came with someone else, and all asked me, ad i still said no. That bitvch was getting pissed too and started cursing, i told her she needed to calm down, its not her fault, im just not goin to show any of you my bag..so they called the cops and when they came, they asked if they had video of me stealing something, or any reason to think i stole..they all said no, they asked me about why i didnt, i just said i dont want to show them my bag, are you going to charge me with stealing anyithng? or are you going to let me go? so they ended up talking to the best buy employees, and i was allowed to leave. Anyone else have any thing happen like this?

Stores checking your reciepts when you leave...
That's pretty funny. Makes perfect sense, if they have no reason to think that you have stolen something, then why would they have to check your bag. If I ever feel like being a prick, I might do that.
i wouldn't have gone to all that trouble. i mean what's the point of doing that if you aren't going to steal, anyhow? intersting though, htat they went to that trouble and couldn't do anything.
i know they are bout to ask me so i put on the dont even think bout it cunt and walk out ^_^ i think theres a law in australia that they carnt force you to let them check ur bag
Re: Stores checking your reciepts when you leave...
hell yeah, good for you man. Fuck those facists pricks. You know the cops were laughing about that in the car the way back to the station. It's good to see somebody stand up to these people. It always pisses me off when i go in there and they're like ok i need to see your bag. I guess they dont think you need to go places or maybe you left the coffee pot on and if you don't get home your house will explode. No, they dont think about stuff like that. They love to inconvience you as much as possible, the coppers had a good point by asking if they saw you on tape stealing something or suspected you of stealing. Well, way to say F U to Best Buy.
Same here in Holland, but I've never ever been asked to show my bag to them. It rarely happens over here I think.
I can tell you for a fact that it's company policy at Best Buy NOT to search through personal belongings unless they have personally witnessed you slip something into those belongings. The girl was almost certainly disciplined for her actions. I'm sure most of you realize that it takes a "certain breed" to be dept. store and mall security guards (rent-a-cops). What I've discovered in my travels is that they are usually those that cannot pass the exam to get into law enforcement, etc.

thanks for wasting my tax dollars on having cops come for no reason.....

Wait a second, you were bragging the other night about not having paid a dime of income tax in your life. You were practically snubbing your nose at the IRS. Man that was a funny night. Remember when you said they were all "Commie pinko bastards"? You're classic dude...too cool.
no offense, but you actually took the time to do this? on purpose??

what are you doing in my bed.. errrr, head...
Yes i did steal that minidisc player, but that was after the fact. When i went in that other time, it was well over a year so they have no idea. I went in for a minimal amount of time, and made sure i was in open spots, asking help from peoplle that worked there. and yes i took the time to do this as an expirament, which took an hour out of my life. Its not like im bitching o they think im stealing...its their policy to check everyones bag
Anyways stealing th at minidisc player was classic, I went in dressed very nice with some glasses on and when someone came over to ask me if i needed help I asked in the dorkiest of voices, is this where all the tape players are? the guy said he would be right back and he never came back because of my nerdy persona i was projecting. Sorry for wasting your tax dollars, but i tihnk the cops pretty much waste enough of your money without me there..go eat a donut
Re: Stores checking your reciepts when you leave...
you should take best buy deep :Anal: , sue their asses, you have a legit case in your defense. Take those corporate punks deep, tell them your emotionally damaged now and cant go into another department store anymore.
Yeah, I think they have to sufficient "grounds" to legally search belongings or vehicles (at least in Canada or in the United States). If they illegally search your belongings, vehicle or home and find drugs or whatever, no matter what they find, you can't be charged for it. It'll be thrown out in court, because it was an illegal search. For example, if a cop pulls you over for speeding he can obviously give you a ticket, but he can't search your car just because "you looks suspicious". He needs a better reason, just like stupid idiot mall cops can't search your bag just because "you look suspicious".
Of course Border Patrol is another story. You gots no rights at da border.
Yes for a minimal amount of time, I went in dressed very nice with some glasses because of my nerdy persona i was going eat a donut
Yes i did steal that minidisc player,
Ska you're going to get in trouble for defacing gov't property on that one.
Pulling the stealth mission on the unsuspecting Best Buy employee...it was cool when you stuck it to the minimum wage security girl, but when upper management started the static and brought the fuzz, it was just classic. Best Buy just wanted to search your personal bag; when I leave Wal-Mart with a cart of stuff (bags and all) one of the greeters ask: "may I see your receipt sir?" What the fuck is that? They don't ask everyone for their receipt, and I doubt it's systematically every 5th person gets hassled. So I must have that criminal appeal or something. I'm not sure if it was the oversized Phat Pharm Jacket and Du-rag I was wearing or not, but I was offended nonetheless. Consequently, I understand your motives behind this task.
they never ask to see my receipt when i leave walmart.
they never ask to see my receipt when i leave walmart.
thats because most of the people that work there have such low self esteem, they are afraid too. lol
Re: Stores checking your reciepts when you leave...
well in some stores in Spain you can not go inside the store with a bag , security of the center have to precinted or closed with a cristal bag, but anyway if they want to see it inside you must showit , otherwise they?ll call the police
I used to work In guitar Center here in Columbus. And everytime we'd have a guy or girl come in with a book bag we'd always put it behind the podium up front, that way there was no reason to search through their bag on the way out.
Well any dj who has come into one of the stores knows what's up with all the regulations that GC has.
Tien, man you must get really bored sometimes to go and do that.
Re: Stores checking your reciepts when you leave...
I think you guys are missing the point here. Stores now have that, "guilty until proven innocent policy." Costco does it and so does Fry's here in California. I let Costco do it because it's a membership club and you'd get dropped if you walked out w/out them checking the receipt. I even had bought only 1 item once and just bolted on out and was chased by their receipt checker. I just handed her my receipt and kept walking. At Fry's I always just walk right by the guys. If you haven't done anything wrong, you have every right to just walk on by and ignore them. If they want to call the cops, let them, but if you're innocent, why worry?
shawn
It's called profiling.
When I go to Walmart all dressed up after work, I never get searched. When I go dressed in a hat and baggy pants or something, it seems like I'm searched every other time. They just think "they look like a thief. I'm want to look good in front of my manager so I can keep my $7.75/hour job." then decide to act like the door king/queen.
Fuck 'em. They all jealous old dumbasses that either weren't smart enough to save for retirement or have no friends, so they're stuck watching the younger crowd live it up. Either way it's their own fault.

Hahaha- right??
the topic headline is "Stores checking your reciepts when you leave... "....and you post something totally non-relevant to "checkin store receipts"....
