Re: Its OFFICIAL: New CDJ-2000 & CDJ-800

The ribbon search looks a good idea

I think with the usb input on there and the link feature, there's a chance you'd never actually play a cd.

The CDJ-2000 will be available in November 2009 with a suggested retail price of $2,150.
The CDJ-900 will be available in December 2009 with a suggested retail price of $1,600.

Re: Its OFFICIAL: New CDJ-2000 & CDJ-800

$2150??

wow. do u guys think they will really sell at that price? i think i will continue to spend the 20cents per cd, burn cds and use the old fashioned cdjs.

#1273445Post 8 of 28

Re: Its OFFICIAL: New CDJ-2000 & CDJ-800

thats MSRP = Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price which 99% if the time is the highest price and rarely sold at the price unless your gullible enough to pay that. MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) has not been announced and won't likely be until they ship, which is the more common price guide by online stores and large consumer dealers. You might find them $50-100 cheaper than MAP when these hit the streets when you see "CALL FOR PRICING" wording in ads.

if you own a club that's not really a lot of money but for an individual it's def on the steep side
if you own a club that's not really a lot of money but for an individual it's def on the steep side
I agree. For a club no problem at all. For me that's a lot of nights I won't be eating dinner.

Re: Its OFFICIAL: New CDJ-2000 & CDJ-800

Why would anyone want to buy this unless they own a club? Its the same thing as using traktor, serato etc at like 5 times the price. Its a joke honestly that one player should cost more than a high end lap top!!!

Re: Its OFFICIAL: New CDJ-2000 & CDJ-800

Target market is not individuals (800, 400, 200 models) more for the ProDJ and nightclub industry. Pioneer did make the effort to survey and beta test with major touring DJ's on what they wanted in new features and capabilities and IMHO did more than expected. They are pretty thorough in their R&D.

Re: Its OFFICIAL: New CDJ-2000 & CDJ-800

i think the people that wanted to go digital already have with Traktor Scratch Pro or Serato. pioneer is pretty late to the game on this one, i just don't see these new cdjs taking the industry by storm.

Re: Its OFFICIAL: New CDJ-2000 & CDJ-800

Pioneer has a lot of money behind this in both R&D, manufacturing, initial launch, marketing and endorsements. From what I'm told they are have placed them in all the major venues in Ibiza and you will see a hugh presence at the 2010 WMC. Just like the original CDJ-1000, many were reluctant when they first came out but as more DJ's started using them they slowly became the standard and look where we are now. At least, Pioneer makes a huge effort in putting out and researching what the end users want and IMHO surpasses most of the time. I can't wait to get my hands on a pair or two.

Re: Its OFFICIAL: New CDJ-2000 & CDJ-800

u work for pioneer or somethng scifi.

i agree with jenks....a bit late to the game on this one...yeah they will probably sell alot to clubs but that is about it...not sure if there are enough clubs in the world to end up making a decent profit especially with the money it cost in r&d engineering and production.

if u going to go digital....i would jsut buy a mac, it way cheaper and u can do a hellova lot more than just dj with it.

Yeah, what a machine :D

http://gizmodo.com/5361368/pioneer-cdj+2000-lets-you-mix-with-the-help-of-a-big-beautiful-lcd-screen

prices: cdj 900 1250,- euro cdj 2000 1650,- euro It's expensive, but I expected more I have to say when I looked to the old mk3 prices.

Re: Its OFFICIAL: New CDJ-2000 & CDJ-800

no different from using serato or traktor, the only benefit i would see is that if youre a dj whos constantly touring in big clubs, you could just be carrying an external hard drive and that would be it, but thats still kind of far fetched, when you still have clubs that dont have a proper set of cdj's, shit how many times has anyone played at a club and they still have Denon decks, or the pioneer 200's or 400's.

and on the money side of things, lets say these go down to something like $1800, you would still need to buy 2, so that makes it $3600, when you can get serato or traktor for something like $600.

Re: Its OFFICIAL: New CDJ-2000 & CDJ-800

No, I don't work for Pioneer but my cousin does. Just a AVL technology junkie and sometimes consultant to local venues for DJ event set-up, installs, and upgrades. Spent 20+ years in the club/entertainment industry and watched everything change multiple times. As far as Pioneer, being late on the software thing - I agree wholeheartedly but at the same time, they are a hardware company first, not or ever known for software. I just think this opens up more options for everyone on both sides - the clubs and the DJs, famous touring or not. The more options available to the DJ/artist the better IMHO.

Re: Its OFFICIAL: New CDJ-2000 & CDJ-800

also, just like in the turntables days - say late 80's early 90's when the techno rave thing was getting started - 1200's weren't so affordable either.

Re: Its OFFICIAL: New CDJ-2000 & CDJ-800

pretty damn cool!

but far too costly and its easier to use serato!

Re: Its OFFICIAL: New CDJ-2000 & CDJ-800

Nice, BUT!!!!! a bit too late in the game and WAY EXPENSIVE!!!!! That's why I never bought a pair of CDJ 1000s. Always wanted them tough...

But you can't get into Serato if you do not have a set of turntables. And since turntables are going away more and more...at least there is an even lower price option to go with the 900.
