I am behind a firewall so it is hard to get many search results with WinMX is it possible to forwards ports (like with Soulseek) so that i will get more connections/results on WinMX ?

Damn, I had no idea people still used WinMX. Don't know the answer to your question as it's been years since I've used it..well before I had a router.
I don't use WinMX so I can't verify that this works... but it might.

you will need to know the port # to map. This can be found by going into the WinMX connection settings, and clicking the "Network / Proxy Settings" button (figure 1). The port # you need to map will appear below where it says "Incoming Connections" (figure 2).

You should download more servers OpenNap I believe they're called.....That brings up more results...not to sure where to get them off the top of my head..but try winmx's url..or search for opennap server (google ect.)

Wasn't winmx full of spyware ??
I think i recall cleaning a pc out from spyware and then after a reboot when winmx started it came back.

so..once I forward ports.....do I make a primary or secondary connection to the network ?
it'll only work on the computer that you forward the ports to
i use it for 5 years now, still get the best results......only slow speed, but worth waiting......today i use bittorent....also a good program
Winmx sucks. U can never find anything on there.
yes it sucks I think the same way the file starts to download and then once it stoped it stay in queued for months, or maybe forever
use donkey or emule ... is much better ...

the only reason I use winmx is to find mainstream stuff...when it comes to any kind of electronic music, you can find some but there's usually something like 80 users in queue....
