wow. just found out my cousin was shot.

wow, i found out yesterday that my cousin was one the officers shot in the jersey city shootout on thursday.:what

apparantly two career dirtbags who had robbed someone earlier, were being followed.. and when a detective got out of the his squad car in the street to approach them, they simply opened fire, and ran into a building. then they had a standoff for an hour or so, and when the police were clearing the building, they came to the room where the couple were held up, and upon opening the door, the criminals opened fire with two auto shotguns. they hit two cops in the head and neck, and two more less seriously, my cousin, PAPD ESU officer mitchell, was hit in the arm.

what the fuck is this world coming to....

I hate thugs. No consideration for human life, and most of them don't care if they go to jail.. Gotta be real careful what you say to people these days because you never know who you are dealing with..Sad world we live in.

Even officers (in the US) that have been in the field for over 30 years rarely use their gun once, stuff like this does not happen often.

I know how your cousin feels. I work in Chicago. People are shooting at us at an alarming frequency and we are shooting at people more than ever. People just don't want to put down those guns...

My thoughts for a speedy recovery..

My father was a Sheriff as well. Los Angeles.. afaik 22yrs and now retired. I never heard of a time where weaponary force was used.. At least while he was working the streets.

^In 1992 when i was a policeman i lost 7 friends in the line of duty in 4 months. was one of the worst periods of me being a policeman. Hope you cousin is ok

Sorry to hear that Sean, I guess he'll live the the question for him wil be whether he's going to be able to cope with it and go back to active duty again.

@Nick: if that was in South Africa as well, you're a fucking hero for even becoming a policeman...
