not saying you're one of them MJ, you seem like a right intelligent swell fella, as are most brits i've met in my travels. Just curious if Simon here is one of that 45%. Just a Q & A since Chem seems to think he knows everything about americans and we're all fucking fat and eat mcdonalds all day and are lazy etc etc etc...you know the stereotypes.
Not wanting to take this arguement/discussion/waste of time any further but..

i still dont get what your point is. Are you saying that folks who dont know there history of world war 2 are a bit dim? Not everybody chooses to learn about such avents in life... that doesn`t make them any less inteligent than others.

and..

i thought McDonalds was the only food you guys ate over ther :P

oh, by all means, let's take the discussion further...

i AM saying folks, especially brits, who don't know there history of ww2 are THICK....DIM....DENSE!

You say people CHOOSE to learn about some events and some not? You don't choose to know these things, you are obligated to know as a human being.

How as a brit, can you not know a history of ww2? You'd be speaking german had it not been for the Americans. I'm not trying to be arrogant here, but a country like britian (even more so the french, but that's a different discussion) not know the history of WW2, Hitler, and the Jewish holocaust?

Of course it makes them less intelligent. FFS man, we're talking about one of the worst genocidal events in the history of mankind. nearly 6million jews died. Again, not implicating YOU in particular, but seriously, being that involved, and that closely related to the events of just 60-70 years ago, how can you not have knowledge of this? I find that to not only be ignorant, but rather offensive.

Thoughts?

excuse me jenks but if you went to europe they would tell you guys that Canada bailed you guys out.. We went through europe and you guys kind of held on to our coat tails..

Re: Micro House anyone? + WW2 discussion pg 3...

no offense running man...but in response to Canada's involvement in WW2...

we appreciate the sandwhiches canada made for the troops.

thanks, we were hungry.

Your statement is painted with a very broad brush my friend and i feel sorry for the folks you have offended. Just because someone may not know anything about the subject does not, in me eyes, make them thick..dim or dense as you put it. When i was a school (many moons ago) there were kids there who didn`t have the slightest bit of interest in history but choose to channel there learning skills in other subjects, that may sound ignorant to you and me but neither you nor me has the right to call them stupid for it. I read bellow that we are starting to get into the finer details of the sad events of the mid fourties... is this realy going to get us anywhere.. apart from "we did this" and " well we were there first" or "yes but we finished it off"? My thought are that getting into a heated discussion about the war will just end in board members squabbling with the outcome being.. well... no outcome.

Again, just my thoughts.

Thoughts?

How about you stop giving people like Chem the chance to stereotype you.

#312910Post 46 of 65

Jenks there isn't any offense taken.. I have seen numersous shows and talked to many people.. My whole family is from Europe(Dad).. they will tell you.. you were behind us and we went in first.. Italy . D-Day.. you name it. learn your history before you talk shit in here.. I'm not mad at ya i just want you to understand that you guys weren't the only guys responsible for taking down Hitler.. Canadian Airborne was the most respected troops in the war.. if you don't believe me just ask..

Heres some thoughts for you, you fucking smartass, what makes you think you are so fucking intelligent eh? because you are an American? and what the fuck do you mean by "i AM saying folks, especially brits, who don't know there history of ww2 are THICK....DIM....DENSE!"? are you taking the fucking piss or what? :x

BTW, nice of you to join in when it was practically over!

Re: Micro House anyone? + WW2 discussion pg 3...

 got em.

chem, lol. chill pill dude. you're funny, so easy to piss off.

re: runningman, i know man, i just like giving you shit.

It was a global effort that brought down hitler, and the russian winter.

The whole american, canada, france thing...just makes me laugh.

The main point is, 6million jews dying, and a hell of a lot of people don't know about it? Pretty fucked up no matter who you are, where you live, and if you don't know that, have not learned that, wether you're a history buff or not, imo, that's fucking sad, regardless of where you're from. It just so happens that the BBC did a study in England, and they're presenting their info on their channel or something. The news report was AP yesterday. Only reason i mentioned Brits.
 got em.
You aint got me sir. Im still puzzled as to why you think these people are thick. I take your point when you say its sad that people dont know what happened back then but its quite obvious that you dont have the first clue about the English education system so let me give you a brief insight. At the age of 13 pupils in senior schools are given the options as to which subjects theyd like to learn. Lets say for arguments sake pupil A` decides not to take up history and instead study say biology or chemistry, he then goes onto further education and studies more of the same, at the end of all his education he becomes a doctor or surgeon maybe. Is this person thick?

Quite frankly jenks i think your statement is ill-informed and ignorant in it`s self.

My apologies for hijacking this thread.

#312981Post 55 of 65

do you guys know that WWII is over?

#313005Post 56 of 65

anyway, you and i are arguing over semantics MJ.

you and i both know anyone not knowing 6 million jews were exterminated = ignorant. (i say dense, you say ignorant.) either way, it's not a person i want to have a cup of coffee with.
