Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

Really disappointed ....

I personally think it's a classic book example of a "sellout"

nothing to do with their previous work... waaaay to pop. I can see that in the charts of mainstream radios...

what a waste, was hopping for a real deal full on comeback. But no.

:(

cant blame them honestly!

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

It's no substitute for infusion of old or not a patch on the last 2 albums.

But i think track 10. All That's In Your Head is class.

Lets hope this album dies on its arse and the lads come back to what they do best, rocking the shit out of it.

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

I think the guys wanted to move in a new direction, unfortunately it's a different direction to what a lot of us would like. :( I saving my thoughts until I've been to the album launch night.

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

Yeah, the direction of the bling bling.... Im sorry to be honest... The are really really good.. pero hey, cant blame them, they are musicians and if the want to live from their art I guess they have to move into a more pop - radioesque US style...

to bad for us to be honest... cant see them playing girls can be cruel after some of the new tracks thought...

:S

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

I saw these guys in Chicago a few years ago and they ripped the fuckin roof off. It really sucks they're going down this road...next thing they'll prob start scoring soundtracks to movies and commercials.

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

What I don't get is why they didn't produce this under a different moniker, as a side project. Heaps of EDM producers produce a huge range of sounds under different names. So now they've effectively commited suicide on the Infusion brand and sound, confuse their longtime fans, and the newbies wouldn't know wtf Infusion is/was anyway.

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

Hmmmm... this is a lil sad to read. I'm a big fan of their old stuff and i have not really kept up with what they have been doin over the last year or so..

I will reserve my opinion on the album til i hear it but these reviews are not to promising..

Different isn't always bad... i hope that that's the case... That they have changed their sound but its still good.. please let that be the case.. pleaasseeeee:shock:

AGREED!!!... After a once over listen i'm inclined to think that you were too nice in your review... Most tracks were que vomit sound here yuck!

They do have to make money thou.. I dont condone selling out but each to their own. It's not my family who needs to eat its theirs.. so i cant judge... I can however judge the album and its a piss weak excuse for an Infusion album..

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

I think a lot of dj's might be trying to get back to basics right now and capitalize on the essence of why 18-25 yr olds go to clubs or buy cd's...

I mean, unless you're on top of the house music charts and/or continually innovative, you can't really afford to "keep it real," you have to give the market what they want...I doubt any of us are going to clubs 3 nights a week, or even every weekend anymore, but there was a time. We are not their target market.

The game has officially changed...and believe me, I was as shocked as the next 29 year old when I heard the sh*t Sander Kleinenberg was mixing at a club recently...very very odd sing along style...Candy House is what it was, I guess.

And btw, this is why the same 5 - 10 dj's constantly get brought up on MS, because they are the only dj's that can afford (have the market identity and customer loyalty) to give the veteran house head what they want to hear.

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

They are not "selling out" because they are doing music we don't like  But I know it is really hard when djs you have loved do music you don't like :(

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

I think this is quite a clear case of 'sell out.'

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

Well, that's not the way Jamie at least, sees it.

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

I won't debate if their new sound is any good cos I'm sure the Presets camp will dig it, but they had a good distinct sound that would've been considered too 'underground' for the masses. Now they're on to a trendier sound that the masses are into. If that's not selling out I don't know what is.

#1242721Post 19 of 25

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

It could just be making/playing music that they like. As I said just because we don't like it doesn't make it selling out! What does underground mean anyway.??? It all seems a bit elitist to me.

Btw I'm not saying I like it, I don't like what Satoshi does now, but I recognise that people's tastes in music change. I just don't listen anymore and I'm sure they don't miss me. I don't accuse them of selling out because they don't suit me anymore. :)

Btw I am also not debating if their music is any good either :)

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

Well what's the definition of selling out?

They went from some tough sick sounding EDM to this fucking ghey shit. They might not have had the influence of acts like Underworld but you gotta admit for a time, their sound was pretty definitive: You could spot an Infusion track from a mile away.

They could've produced this pop stuff from the beginning if they liked it so much, but they produced 2 EDM albums and then this.

If they're producing music they like now, I'd say their taste or aesthetics in music has taken a few steps back instead of forward, because instead of having that signature Infusion sound, they now sound like any other indie electro pop band out there.

Which then begs the question: Do they want to sound unique or do they want to sound like everyone else.

And that's selling out to me.

[/quote] This is a valid statement, given our taste in music. Although I really don't listen to indie electro pop bands to judge. I actually believe that very few artists of any description actually see themselves as selling out. People do change . So,more a case of doing something that is new and different to them. Even if I don't like it :)

It is also a matter of individual opinion. One man's sellout is another man's new and different. :) And we know where you stand  I'm sitting on the fence till I see them :)

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

Well I still haven't heard it. Went to the launch , but they were late starting and I absolutely hated the venue. Sunny was calling , so I left.

Jamie played a morning set at Sunny! He is an amazing Dj in his own right. I was so tired and just couldn't leave until he stopped playing. At 10.45 am

Sunny is wonderful :D It was wonderful hearing Henry Saiz doing his own stuff on a great sound system !! :D

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

i remember infusion remix written on a record meant "cranky shit" but if this is whats happening, then hey... hope they are happy with what they are becoming...

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

wondered what happened to these guys, well, there you have it.. good on them if they want to go this direction, at the end of the day they need to look out for themselves and their financial future.. we dont have to like it, but there's no use in slagging them off for it.. they're making money making music :)

Re: Infusion - All Night Sun Light

mmm... i have mixed feelings about this. On one hand I agree with DIDI and on the other one with feather. Thought to say, but I respect them for doing the music they like, it just seems very rare to me that after their last work they suddenly went on a very different direction (and not even talking about the earning money issue), that has little to do with their previous work and legacy (!) It just seems a little weird to me. But hey, all is good (and possible). That I think is what is sort of a popular definition for the "sell out" term...
