Yeah it mentions in the Guardian article that it was rumored to be Ben Collins but it sounds like that was a hoax

The Stig is just a collection of racing drivers over the years.. Ben collins, Damon hill among others.

I am guessing since Michael Scumacher is still working for Ferrari as a test driver/consultant he was prob the only one aloud to unleash the FXX on the Top Gear test track.

I'd assume the clip was just abit of fun.

The lap was good though.

driver skill has a lot to do with it!

schumi has proven over and over (unfortunately) that he is a cut above the rest.

i'd be intrigued to see what a normal stig would have managed!

That's right, they borrow it, it gets dropped off at a test circuit and they get to play with it for the day. Its due to its road legality status still being in question.

Why was Schuey the Stig? Simple - he was at the studios as hes a test driver for Ferrarri and therefore the only man they trusted to boot the car around the circuit. He's not the real Stig, but a good publicity stunt nevertheless.

^^^ I am guessing because the FXX needs a pit team to manage it. It prob needs to be constantly monitored by the Ferrari mechanics while you are having your fun out on the track.

The FXX is more of a race ready touring car, ya can't just stick the key in and start the ignition without a shit load of system checks..
