are there any pics?
naw, no pics, just 3 days of amazing coverage from me. :) tonight!

the city touched me like a virgin for the very first time, AND I LIKED IT!

fav's: Flying Lotus blew my mind, Damien Lazurus, Ztrip, Wignomy brothers, Kate Simko, Lucine, Luciano and Loco were good.. very cool that they had the massive crowd because the sound was pretty awesome!

The old masters played detroit sound like no other: Carl Craig, Saunderson, Derrick May :)

Re: Detroit bound

I'm sorry but Damien Lazarus is the biggest piece of shit fucktard that ever entered a DJ booth.

Seriously needs to DIE.

He trainwrecks constantly, can't keep the energy up, and on top of that he abandoned his own child.

I could go on.

Re: Detroit bound

I had no problem getting deep with it in Miami... music can vary, I agree.. I think the point is to get lost in it.

mini lazo? maybe mom went nuts? i dunno, whatever... I don't care to hear it

Re: Detroit bound

Worst dj ever!

#1224662Post 29 of 45

Re: Detroit bound

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

personally, I think Steve Akoi is the worst DJ

Re: Detroit bound

wow it shocks me to hear something like that about lazarus , specially since the guy is a legend and has never let me down , it's about the groove he puts on , maybe you are just not into his style of music

#1224718Post 31 of 45

Re: Detroit bound

I've never heard him play a good set, ever. It's not a matter of type of music.

Sigh.

Re: Detroit bound

good meeting you mike. it's odd that we have had the same group of friends from ny for years and have never met. that was pretty funny.

music highlights:

Lusine live on the pyramid stage Steve Bug on the main stage Ryan Elliott on the pyramid stage Adam Beyer @ the beatport tent Kevin Saunderson on the main stage Wighnomy Bros @ the beatport tent cassy @ olso

the boat party was meh. henrik schwarz live was the only highlight.

old miami was kinda odd this year. didn't have the same vibe it has had the past 4 years. the sound issues for the first few hours definitely took some of the luster out of it.

im with ya on lazurus poto, i wasn't feeling anything he was trying to do.

Re: Detroit bound

I thought Henrik on the boat was disappointing... but he kept cracking me up. At one point I saw him headbanging so hard that the scarf he was wearing kept slashing over his face

good seeing you again Jenks. Every time I run into you, it seems like you disappear just as quick as you appear

it took him awhile to get it together, but once he did i enjoyed his live set. ame/dixon on the boat were horrible.

Re: Detroit bound

just pumping out some good memories as I think of them..

Audion @ DEMF Made in Detroit Stage, Day 3. Best set of the festival IMO. Toward the end ~10 people in masks appeared on the stage with him and danced there for ~45 minutes. Toward the end of the set the masks started to come off (Matthew even put one on for a while) and I recognized Ellen Allien and Heidi were among the masked dancers

Monty Luke @ Mothership. A free party with free alcohol and amazing sound. Monty played an awesome warmup set for nearly 3 hours... I admit I left early from this, but I heard when Claude Vonstroke came on 90 minutes later he kept throwing fuses in the building's circuit breaker, causing repeated dark/silent periods

The Clink crew @ The Other Nine to Five. Tim Xavier, Insideout, Camea, Elon. Insideout and Tim Xavier played awesome terrace sets. I thought these guys played house, but I was way wrong. They both played awesome minimal/tech/experimentalish sets and I predict I'm going to be spending a bunch of time trying more from the whole Clink crew

Adam Beyer @ DEMF Beatport Stage Day 1 (then again from 4:30am to 7am at the TV bar) were both amazing sets. Not much to say other than he kept me going the whole time

Me and Jarble were the first and second persons to show up at Chloe Harris's stage as she opened the festival on day 2. As we got there we were privileged to be the only people on the dancefloor to see her fighting a 50-foot-wide/20-foot-tall banner blowing against her from the wind, completely engulfing her and her decks, and preventing her from being able to concentrate or see what she was doing. It only lasted a minute until the crew was able to take the banner down
