My options for tonight:

  1. Brave the crappy weather, get on the train, and head down to NYC to see Tenaglia and Lawler.
  2. Drink beer and watch HBO on Demand.

Suggestions?

Why not combine the best of both? BEER + Crappy weather, train, NYC and Tenaglia and Lawler?

Go see Lawler.

Don't expect to hear 'Dance with the devil' though...

Don't forget to dress like a Devil with a Big Sombrero (cheesy mariachi hat) and dance in front of the booth all night.

Re: Tenaglia + Lawler vs. Beer

I ended up going after all...a quick review below:

Got into The Roxy at about 12:15 am without any problems at the door. My mates arrived about half an hour later. Lawler was just finishing warming up and started to raise the energy level already. At about 1 am, he must have decided to wipe the slate clean and played several vocal tracks in a row, including remixes of "Pump the Jam" and "Last Night a DJ Saved my Life".

Then the show really started! There were moments when Lawler made Digweed seem like an uplifting DJ. Just when I thought that he couldn't have possibly raise the energy any more higher, he would pull another choon out of the box (errr, another CD out of the bag) and take it to another level. Never have I seen anyone program a set a better. By 3 am, the crowd starting chanting, "Lawler, Lawler"...

Finally, at about 3:30 am Danny Tenaglia came on; Danny T and Lawler tag-teamed for about an hour before the the former took over in his signiture fashion: "Yeah, New York, much respect to Steve Lawler; Happy Thanksgiving to everyone". That was my cue; I left about 15 minutes later and made it home just before 7 am.

Now, I have to get some sleep, as I am to cook a Thanksgiving dinner in about 8 hours! :D
