well, I took the plunge... running TSP 1.1 on my Macbook Pro now. Learned all of the internal features this week and plugged it up tonight to the external mixer and the 1200s for a trial run with the sync features and the timecode vinyls.

HOLY shit :shock::shock::shock:

sorry for the nerd-ass post. I'm just still in shock.

Re: Just switched to Traktor Scratch Pro...

hell yeah bro! i'm thrilled to hear this, and can't wait to hear your new mixes. how's the bay treating you by the way? i hope well. i'm thinkin about a fun road trip up north before i ship off indeed.

traktor... nice. kinda wish i took that route. i don't have my 1s and 2s anymore, but i actually bought ableton live about a year ago. it sucks though because i got no equipment to work with this heavy duty software package at the moment, so i've been slowly trying to handle mixing and producing tracks in ableton live 7 only. it's weird having only mixed in the past with technics and having never mixing with cdj's in my life; to mixing soley with software right now. it's so wack, i gots lots to learn and reconcile.

best of luck with the switch though, and i can only imagine all the crate fulls of dank vinyl gems you will accumulate in SF, word! :D

Re: Just switched to Traktor Scratch Pro...

Thanks, guys. It's going to take a while until I'm really comfortable with it, though, and until I can really unlock its potential... One of the biggest adjustments is just the ability to effectively sort through the material now that it isn't in a box that I can work through with my hands. I'm practicing with it most every day now..

illustrious: it's great out here! I'm very glad I made the move... just had my first day of work today, and so far so good... :)

Re: Just switched to Traktor Scratch Pro...

I´m actually switching from Ableton to Traktor.

I miss some spontaneity, some "dirt" and some human element in mixing.

Yeah, I know, if I really wanna feel this as much as I can, I should just move to vinyl, but then I´d lose some of the advantages of all the technology.

Ableton for me is getting to a point where, as I know it so well, it just feels too sterile and "under-control", and I´m not really the kind of guy that will thrown in countless samples and acapellas over the music or just play 30-sec loops of tracks in order to play 50 tracks in one hour, so there´s no real challenge in Ableton anymore.

Warp your tracks well and you´ll never skip a beat, throw a limiter over the master channel and you´ll never have levels going crazy again... ironic as it is I miss that human element when playing, so I settled for what I feel is a good compromise between tradition and technology.
