Re: Nick Warren in San Fran then Vegas

Ruby Skye - beautiful name for a club. Missed going there last time I was in SF... which is a shame cause I won't be going there anytime soon.

Re: Nick Warren in San Fran then Vegas

my schedule is a shitstorm, or else i'd make it. fuck.

i'm sure we could get Vin to pull sum strings on getting this set. that is, if it gets recorded, yeah.

fuck it though, Jody needs to get out of Europe right now, and come way out west too. he's prob the most underrated as well as one of the best dj out there imo. his style and energy would be most welcome at local spots out here.

#1217565Post 15 of 42

Re: Nick Warren in San Fran then Vegas

report bakc fools!

i sure hope these sets get recorded...

Re: Nick Warren in San Fran then Vegas

Well he played for two hours and it was plenty of bomb stuff, Lamur, some new WOW material Future Perfect and Spaceman, some old classics, a track from the Lima disc, Think Guy Gerber Timing, and a bunch of other stuff I have only heard, I am a crap trainspotter, wish he would have played another hour. Great time, the venue is bizarre, people climbing on lighting truss overhead in weird outfits, all sorts of madness, a woman with a saw blades grinding it on a piece of metal attached to her clothing on her stomach, flying pigs, black light, plenty of screens, some room to dance, but no lasers, overall not bad, but at fourty to fifty dollars for the regular punters a bit overpriced, especially considering Body English has top tier talent and locals are free.

Re: Nick Warren in San Fran then Vegas

Was the place packed? How was the sound system? Sounds like it was awesome!

#1221240Post 21 of 42

Re: Nick Warren in San Fran then Vegas

At first but the deeper the music got the more the mainstream crowd left which was fine, the soundsystem sucked, stage right side cut out for the first hour occasionally, bass got to be a bit much, the tracks were great, but after seeing him in much smaller clubs, Rain was a bit to big for my tastes. How people slag on his sound is beyond me, Nick delivered big time.

Re: Nick Warren in San Fran then Vegas

hey guys It was an interesting night, must say it wasn't my kind of crowd so thanks to the few that came down,i think i played a really poor set so apologies, the monitors were like a wall of sound played thru cotton wool, not nice at all. San fran was great tho. cheers Nick

#1221381Post 24 of 42

Re: Nick Warren in San Fran then Vegas

Agreed Nick total tourist crowd, but you did proper and cleared those people out to give the dancefloor freaks more room to move, next time get booked at Body English, smaller club, clued up crowd. Yes the Rain the soundsystem is shite, a friend of mine who DJ's locally has been hassling them for months, needless to say total knob in charge of the technical aspects there is lost.

To Florida: the Club Kristal set is a great indication of the night at Rain. Big Up Nick.

Refreshing of you to say Nick ... but maybe you've just got very high standards - the report from Vegas is very positive and people are clearly enjoying the music you're playing .. just sounds like the venue sucks.

Brill, sounds like a top night! Would love to hear a new live set from Nick, shame the sounds system was poo.

very refreshing to see a dj be so honest about a night and a crowd. wish all were this open about what constitutes a good night...

:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

I'm sure Warren performed admirably considering the kinda conditions.

Reminds me of one of the pics from a Digweed gig and it was like some S&M freakshow on the dancefloor.

Re: Nick Warren in San Fran then Vegas

^what happened to keeping calm? That's the kind of crap that makes Vegas different from anywhere else in the world anyway...

#1221516Post 30 of 42

Re: Nick Warren in San Fran then Vegas

Warren should've spun at the Cirque Du Soleil show if he was in Vegas, now that would've been a trip

#1221521Post 31 of 42

Re: Nick Warren in San Fran then Vegas

The intention was there, but not the right crowd for something so leftfield, the fact the DJ booth is on an elevated stage so far from the crowd did not help, unlike when he played at Cielo, total mayhem. Still much better to get Nick into town than usual affair of rubbish that seems to frequent Vegas.

#1221522Post 32 of 42

Re: Nick Warren in San Fran then Vegas

^you (response to feather) may be on to something there...his sound is certainly inspiring and unique enough to blend nicely with cirque du what have you.

Re: Nick Warren in San Fran then Vegas

damn ant don't know how you still put up with the vegas crowd

#1221588Post 34 of 42

Re: Nick Warren in San Fran then Vegas

Well shosh is still out here, hang out with him and a few of the real dance music fans, the Wed at Body English have cultivated a new, new, new younger crowd as well as the usual assortment of front running electro house and trance DJ's, so the kids have slowly been getting into cooler stuff like Porter, Fanculli, and Lawler. The struggle continues.

Re: Nick Warren in San Fran then Vegas

^ yeah. i've been trying to make a trip out to vegas and havasu, and to party with you guys for a while. my vocations are so fucked right now tho. hopefully this summer forsure.

#1221715Post 36 of 42

Re: Nick Warren in San Fran then Vegas

I heard him and got to hang out with him luckily at the Revolution Lounge in the Mirage when he spun there two years ago - it was so much fun in there.
