OK i'll let you know what went on.

i had played for 2 hours, and things were going fine, and then the owner of the club wanted me to play a 15 min, techno trance record called dance with the devil, which was about 160 bpm!!! so of course i refused to. I knew nothing about this performance and i wasnt about to break up what i had built musically.. so they told me to play the record or get off, so i came off, then when myself, my girlfriend and my agent went to leave the club, they freatened us with 10 bouncers, we were going to get the shit beaten out of us, so they forced us back into the club, litterally thisically forced us, i went back in and was made to play 1 more hour surrounded by bouncers etc..

i have to tell you, in all my career i have never ever had anything like this happen before, i was very worried for my girlfriend and had to do as they said.

i will never again come to gaudalaja, im sorry for those of you that live there, i will how ever be doing shows in other parts of mexico, but i will never step foot into that city again. sorry.

this was a very scary incident that i never want to be in again..

that club can go and fuck themselves, and i advise no one to play there, it was completely un real what happened.. words do not describe how concerned i was that evening..

the show in mexico city was great i ended up playing for just over 4 hours to a great crowd. so i will definately be back there again some time in the near future..

i hope this clears all rumours..

Steve

#306024Post 9 of 103

Sad, sad situation.

Forcing him to play song and threatening him and his girlfriend? coward assholes...

Respect for Lawler, he did a great mix here two weeks ago.

#306025Post 10 of 103

i don't go to the forum ever... i assume that's really steve lawler?

pretty lame either way. wonder if the crowd enjoyed the dance with the devil track... :|

#306026Post 11 of 103

It seems like a joke... just imagine the situation: "PLAY DANCE WITH THE DEVIL, OR WE'LL BEAT YOU AND YOUR GIRLFRIEND"...

Bizarre as hell...

#306033Post 12 of 103

It actually comes from Steves own site and a posting he made on the board there. http://www.djstevelawler.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=1333

great??? the Cream Arena was on fire!!!!!

#306037Post 14 of 103

I don't see what could be funny about that situation...

#306039Post 15 of 103

Re: check what happen to Lawler in Mexico!!

hey, I didn't say that what happened to him was funny. Not at alla, actually I was saying you were right about his performance here in Creamfields... I only reinforce it a little... because it was more than great...

the situation in Guadalajara is pathetic... poor Steve...

#306042Post 16 of 103

It isn't funny at all... In my own case, referring to my first post in this topic, I just laughed about my own beginnings in music; I used to listen to that track, whose produced by 666...

The situation is pure shit, you just can't threat a person because he doesn't want to play a record... I just can't believe the behaviour of the owner of the club. This kind of things shouldn't happen.

As I said... it's a really bizarre situation.

Re: check what happen to Lawler in Mexico!!

if i had a gig at a club and they told me what to play i would tell them to go fuck themselves.

#306045Post 18 of 103

I think you wouldn't do that if your girlfriend is in danger... that's a hard situation.

Re: check what happen to Lawler in Mexico!!

god damn! what a bunch of shit, suxx for Lawler, never heard of stuff like that before. Maybe cant even take legal actions towards the club. Bunch of BS. :x

LMAO! true.

#306129Post 33 of 103

i really find it strange.... why would the club people want him to play a 160 bpm track??? completely breaks the mood build up by lawler's style! the owners just want the crowd to be satisfied!

really sucks... this kinda people really stink

#306130Post 34 of 103

did you see Stark Raving Mad ???

maybe they were robbing the bank next to the club :P

seriously now, it sucks. trying to force a dj to play something he usually doesn't is serious shit. why in hell do you book a dj if he plays a style the club regulars are not used to?

that asshole promote should burn in hell.

much respect for steve lawler, he's done a great performance on creamfields argentina few days ago.

#306180Post 38 of 103
