Apparently this is what James made for himself so he can put his stuff together when he gets to a gig LOL...such a funny guy!

Edit: I just got a bit of an explanation...apparently he's quite dyslexic and this helps him memorize what goes where...who am I to judge it seems to be working wonders for him!

Re: James Zabiela's set up

Interesting. When did he switch out the kaoss pad in favour of the kaossilator? You don't have a link to a larger image do you? Some of what he's written is a bit hard to read.

Edit: nevermind, I just leant in really close to the screen :)

Re: James Zabiela's set up

Gotta love the music notes and little "Swish" & "Wheeeeee" effects too!

I'd say those just come with the setup! :)

Re: James Zabiela's set up

Doesn't matter if you know all his equipment or not. No one will ever be able to be in the same class with the guy as a DJ.

Re: James Zabiela's set up

I think he just means the current audio 8 dj soundcard.

Re: James Zabiela's set up

Quite a lot of detail that in that rough sketch... :D

Looks complicated as hell though..

Re: James Zabiela's set up

why did he sign it as his james zabiela set up??

would it just be set up or my set up!

i call shennanigans!

#1208401Post 11 of 43

Re: James Zabiela's set up

Why would Zabiela need to draw his own set up? As a DJ and someone who tours with his own equipment, he can't possibly forget how to set it up unless he's seriously off his tits at gigs.

And why would he need to remind himself that an Apple Macbook is a LAPTOP and a Pioneer DJM 800 is a mixer :what

I reckon it's someone in the booth with him who sketched the set up.

Re: James Zabiela's set up

You can think what you will...I am really not that bothered. I just thought it was pretty cool. Zabiela was in Belgrade on the 25th of April and a 'friend' of mine was working as a photographer. James spent like 30 minutes setting up his equipment using these drawings so my friend took a photo....and I already explained that the man is dyslexic.

#1208432Post 13 of 43

Re: James Zabiela's set up

I thought a picture of most DJ's set was sent to the club before the gig so someone at the gig would set it up before hand.

That is the reason for the sketch. Then his graphics guy probably made it into a nice clear to understand image so they can send to clubs and make sure they have the bulk of the equipment already there for him.

http://www.joachimgarraud.com/docs/Joachim_Garraud_Audio_Setup.pdf

this is the image for Joachim Garraud's set up. so the clubs know what he uses and how to get it set up.

Some times I wonder do you guys even read what is written before posting a response or are you just waiting for your turn to say something.

Technically we did read your post, you only added your edit after we read your post.

Excuse me? I read all before I post. I simply was classifying something that you left open and exclimated the point with diagrams that are being sent to clubs.

No. I added it before :)

Believe it or not a lot of the places dj's play at in Eastern Europe are NOT clubs...like the place above is not a club its just an empty building the organizers rented and brought speakers and lights into and voila you have yourself a real authentic rave.

Re: James Zabiela's set up

I am pretty sure you added your edit after I read your post and responded accordingly to said post. I'm only stating this because you made a point of calling us out on not reading your post after I asked why Zabiela would need a drawing of his own set up. Your edit which said Zabiela was dyslexic would have left an impression on me if I had read it the first time, as it did when I read it in your edit.

It's not a big deal to be honest, but you made a big deal out of us not reading your shit when you edited it after we have indeed read your shit.

How does being dyslexic dyslexic mean you have trouble setting equipment up anyway. I'm dyslexic and I've never had trouble setting up equipment.

Good stuff.

I figure I should get a printout of that sketch & bring it with me to a James Zabiela gig. Found out recently he's stopping by in Calgary in late June on his latest tour

Re: James Zabiela's set up

I'd be interested in knowing what Digweed sends to promoters... Does he just state what he needs (three cdjs, xone 92 and the Pioneer fxs-thingy) or does he also send out a pic how it needs to be set up like Sasha does?
