Taken from the ever reliable & brilliant www.residentadvisor.net
When we mentioned in October that John Digweed would be doing the Fabric 20 release there was a few murmurs of surprise, but an overall air of expectancy from one of the worlds great DJs and his partnership with a series known for its forward thinking and underground approach. This excitement is continuing to build as the release date of January 3, 2005, nears ever closer. Diggers himself is eager to let this release loose, saying

"The soundsystem at Fabric makes records come alive, and I can play tracks there that I just couldn?t in any other club on the planet; they just wouldn't have the same effect. This CD is a five hour Fabric set, condensed into 74 minutes, and I hope it surprises a few people."

The mix contains 16b's kick-free re-work of Pete Moss, as well as Goldtrix? blissed-out version of Matrix & Danny J and the likes of Martin Solveig, Angel Alanis, Josh Wink and closes with the combination of Michael Mayer firing up Superpitcher's sensual 'Happiness', and Joel Mull's wonderfully weird Emico.

Keep an eye out for the RA review, Digweed tour details and more as one of the scenes pioneers takes us on a excursion courtesy of the latest in the impressive Fabric series.
Good stuff imo. :)

Artwork seems to of changed prehaps also...?

#305151Post 18 of 57

how do they cram 5 hours into one cd? i don't understand that. do they use one time period of 74 minutes within the 5 hours or are they going to take snippets from all over the 5 hours??? :?:

#305152Post 19 of 57

Interesting... I own those last 2 records... might just have to go home and see how they fit together...

I just listened to a sample of emico and I can see the fit w/ Happiness...

I like the other mix of that happiness record as well.

:)

I think he means he's gonna take the scope of 5 hours and condense it thematically to 74 minutes...

It's very similar to how the GU CD's work, taking the highlights and creating a CD out of it.

looking foward to this

cooler than the weatherall one imo

#305302Post 25 of 57

14 tracks. Given the fact that digweed only plays 8 tracks in an average 60 min kiss fm set the average playing time per track will go down significantly, i.e. more tech-house

#305306Post 26 of 57

Uh that tracklisting is quite nice too.. Actually really nice.

#305332Post 27 of 57

This brings up a interesting topic....when should 5+ hour sets be turned into a "offical" release on a major label? We are used too just downloading those huge mixes, but you can't buy them....when will this change?..and would you be interested?

peace, steve

#305338Post 28 of 57

I think Diggers is gonna change his whole style for this, because its a Fabric cd. I cant wait to see what he does, im sure its gonna be pretty decent.

#305700Post 34 of 57

Re: INFO On John Digger Digweed's Fabric CD!

hmmm, not sure what to expect from this one, the only one of those tracks i know is the 16b remix. presumably the rest of it is this trendy tech house genre i keep hearing about?

#305708Post 35 of 57
why not release a dvd for the whole set, 74 min is not enough :(
There never was a "whole set"... What John meant was the cd is representative of the kind of records he would play throughout a 5 hour set...
