make sure you get 1.1.2 installed right away from the service center updates...

Re: Traktor appreciation thread

I use Traktor v3.4.1 with a Vestax VCI-100 controller + 2x CDJs + 2x Cortex HDTT-5000 (total of 6 decks) in my configuration. Most of the times at least 2 of the 4 decks are not used... :D

Traktor is proved to be very stable and precise. I didn't like the Traktor Pro v1.x interface, dunno why, so I currently stick to the old v3.4.x versions ;)

Re: Traktor appreciation thread

Been a Traktor user for almost a year now...my overall experience has been nothing but positive.

I'm using the newest version of Traktor Scratch Pro with two Technics M3Ds and two CDJ 400s. I hardly ever use more than 2 decks simultaneously, and when I do I usually sync in the 3rd and 4th deck with my laptop, but I do like to be able to switch up the control medium depending on the mood I'm in.

I also own the nano control series to control FX, loops, and other software parameters.

Re: Traktor appreciation thread

I have been with tractor since version 1 came out like 8 years ago. Its been a love hate relationship...especially with the first one. Anyway...I am using both TP and Traktor 3 with 2x1210's a DJM 600...cdj 400 and cdj 200 and a korg pad for the midi controls. Traktor is hands down the best program for mixing music. I have tried them all and none of them have anything on Traktor although I have experienced some issues with the TP I prefer it to Traktor 3 due to the filters... Has anyone here used traktor 2? There used to be some really cool filters on that that they had scraped when 3 came out...I was so pissed of about that for ages.

mostly latency issues and some little bugs that you probably never even noticed.

I used traktor 2 as well ,i liked the fact that when U would use the filters and other efects there would be a screen display of what the effect you are using might sound like , i thought that was a great hit because It would guide you through the sound, it took me 6 months to learn how to use that for my sets , when i finally got it the new version took it out :what

Yeah exactly...you could practically make a filter of your own with it...IMO its shit that they try and emulate decks they should aim to give you more freedom than you get with decks and a mixer.

Re: Traktor appreciation thread

if its so good why did the top dj in the world abondoned it so quickly.

#1207285Post 15 of 49

Re: Traktor appreciation thread

Because it didn't fit was he was trying to do? Or maybe he's still stuck on the whole two decks and mixer deal and didn't try to use it to it's fullest potential?

Just take a look at all the top jocks who are supporting it.

http://www.residentadvisor.net/feature-read.aspx?id=1035

No need to be a fan boy or anything, just because your favorite DJ doesn't support it doesn't mean it's a bad product.

Re: Traktor appreciation thread

Once the MT9 format becomes the new standard he and everyone else who still DJ's the traditional is going to get left in the dust.

Re: Traktor appreciation thread

lol, some of u seem to forget what djin really is.

what digs does the traditional way will still blow away what anyone can do using a cpu to assist

Re: Traktor appreciation thread

Same thing could be said for digital artists, but no one considers them any less than a traditional paint and canvas artist. What Diggers does is play other peoples tunes, plain and simple. No arguing that. Could be off a record, cd or laptop even. What he is exceptional at is programming his nights and knowing when to drop the tunes, and that doesn't change no matter what format you're on.

here's a quote from Moldover I find appropriate at this moment in DJing history,

"You’re going to look back at the early 21st century and see a defining point that divided DJs into two distinct groups. You could call it the digital divide, but it will not be a question of who uses digital or not. That result is already clear: Go digital or find yourself with the dinosaurs. The digital divide will be between those who were and those who will be. First, you have the old vanguard that is adapting techniques and styles into the digital realm via digital training wheels courtesy of Serato Scratch and others. Then you have the new camp, which — with no emotional ties to a particular DJing paradigm — is literally throwing away the rulebook and reinventing the wheel."

Re: Traktor appreciation thread

Its only a moment of time before most electronic music will be live in the true sense of the word...i.e. a live creation of a 2, 3, 4 hour long musical composition that builds and peaks perfectly...I am so looking forward to that!

#1207826Post 21 of 49

Re: Traktor appreciation thread

Habersham did something like that a few years back. He made a sample loop package for sale, can't remember were, and he made a mix just using all the samples.

Pretty nifty idea I thought at the time, even more relevant now a days.

Re: Traktor appreciation thread

The cueing of the tracks before you play them gets me hard on, , you can cue them and put a note on the track for a meaning to each different cue.

Re: Traktor appreciation thread

used Traktor Scratch for first time with my Technics decks last nite at a friend's graduation party. being able to use the decks' precision pitch controls with all my music at my fingertips was a nice feeling. the only weird thing was that I cought myself taking the time code records off the decks at the end of the transitions a couple of times haha. habits =)
is the track sync function improved on traktor pro? because i noticed on tracktor 3 the tracks will still run off slightly
Helps a lot if you set up your beat grids, doesn't matter if it's T3 or TP.

And beat matching is just a means to an end, as long as you're able to pull it off does it matter how you do it?

Most of the top jocks who have been DJing for a number of years say the same thing, beat matching is just tedious, where now they can spend that time doing more elaborate mixes.

Besides, seamless looping never hurts as well.

Re: Traktor appreciation thread

^^^^^ Thanks Jason, I will have to figure out the beat grids :)

And check out djtechtools.com

Good site for any and all info on digitial DJing, and the guys on the boards are really helpful as well.

Cheers!

Re: Traktor appreciation thread
beat matching is just tedious
I had a really good laugh with this =) 15-20 seconds of pitch riding per transition is not tedious work at all, and it's a lot more enjoyable when you pull those "elaborate mixes" off at the same time ;)

back on the track - yea, the beat detection saw lots of improvement, now it goes to .01, which means they almost never drift away noticeably in a 2+ minute transition

Re: Traktor appreciation thread

I'm thinking on buying the new version of it i still have the 3.3.180

I don't want to make the same mistake , when I switched to a new version a couple years back , then had to wait for a proper version to come out and that was of my likes .
