Nobody steals my avocados!!

So, I bought a nice looking avocado at the market the other day. It wasn't quite ripe yet, so I put it out my front door to get some sunlight and to speed up the ripening process.

On my way out the door for work yesterday morning, I turned it around to make sure that it was getting sunlight on all sides, and then went off to work for the day. When I came home from work yesterday evening, it was gone!! Someone had stolen my avocado!!

I was so angry, that I made a sign that read "Thank you for stealing my avocado!! I hope that it makes you sad knowing that you are a thief!!" I then placed the sign where I had left my avocado...

When I woke this morning, I decided to check to see if anyone had ripped up my note, pee'd on it or whatever, and to my surprise, my avocado had been returned!! Along with the avocado was an apology note, that read "My neighbor found your avocado and thought it was mine..Sorry for the mixup, no hard feelings."

Moral of the story....

NO ONE FUCKS WITH MY AVOCADO, NOBODY!!!!!!!

Re: Nobody steals my avocados!!

I thought someone had stolen my cooler full of organic fruit and veggies today because when I went to check if the delivery had been made, the cooler was GONE!

Turns out the wind had blown the stirafome cooler full of ice 15+ yards away from my front door...

If it wasn't for that meddling wind!

Hell yeah. I love avocados. I planted an avocado seed once when I was 7. When we moved to our new house a year later, I brought my avocado plant with me. I named him Seymour because the seed split open and it looked like Seymour from "Little Shop Of Horrors"..LOL...

Seymour is now about 25 feet tall and his branches span at least 15-20 feet across, and produces about 500-1000 avocados every couple of years. :)

Re: Nobody steals my avocados!!

In the future.. Just put the avocado in a brown paper bag for a day or two.. That speeds up the ripening process, and stops theives from stealing your avocados.

Re: Nobody steals my avocados!!

Also, if you put a piece of fully over over-ripened fruit in a bag or shoe box with a piece of non-ripened fruit or veggie, the gases from the ripe fruit speed up the ripening process of the non-ripe fruit very quickly.

Re: Nobody steals my avocados!!

Nice culinary tips over here lol Avocados in the stats taste funny btw. The one that grows in tropical areas such as Peru is much tastier.

Re: Nobody steals my avocados!!

i don't know if the story is funnier or the fact that you set your avocado outside your front door to get some sun.....

moral of the story: buy ripe avocados. ;)

ps - i thought the exact same thing toasty did when i started reading this. the strawberry thief strikes again!

Re: Nobody steals my avocados!!

I love avocados seasoned as part of a dip, but straight avocado? I think people who eat them straight and frequently have some kind of vitamin deficiency, which is cool btw, we all have some form of vitamin deficiency I imagine.

This part cracks me up for so many reasons...why would someone see an avocado on someone's step and think "hey that's mine"...and if you had taken it, why would you put it on your front step?! lol

Re: Nobody steals my avocados!!

Couldn't you have left the avocado on the table for it to ripen?

I guess I could have. It was solid as a rock though, so I thought the sun would soften it quicker.
