It's time to get some beats for you freaks! This time I'm staying local to Australia with what I believe to be one of the strongest sets since Kasey Taylor was featured on .AUdio - and it's at the hands of Sydney's Scott Oliver.

Scott's serving us up a mammoth feast of seriously fresh tracks over 4 hours. This is the way it's meant to be; the full journey. Kicking off in deep house territory, we're taking the scenic route via prog country, abseiling into a breaks chasm before climbing out overlooking a stunning progressive house vista and taking the techno express back to base (or bass - depending on your system) ...not for the faint hearted!

Scott Oliver's rep for ultra-smooth key mixing and a more matured sound will be known to those who tuned into the May edition of .AUdio when he turned in a fucking ripper. It's still spinning regularly in my household, I promise!

This show is all about my taste. If you want to hear what I believe .AUdio is all about - this is it. Bring it on!

We're kicking off at the regular time, which turns out to be:

New York (EST): Thursday, November 18 @ 5pm

Los Angeles (PST): Thursday, November 18 @ 2pm

London (GMT): Thursday, November 18 @ 10pm

Sydney (AEST): Friday, November 19 @ 9am

Don't miss this one. :)

Ripping this one will be tricky, since I'm going to be about 5 states away from home... I'll definitely figure it out though.

:?: Will the full 4 hours be aired?
Ripping this one
...And you know this, man.

#300465Post 4 of 38

OMG!!! Scott is going to be on .Audio again. Looks like i'm going to have fun downloading this off someone. The last 4 hour set was AMAZING!!! I can't wait for this one.

Grant, can you find out what the first track of his last 4hr set was...the one with the woman asking if you wanted her to bend over and touch her ankles??? That track ROCKS!!!

#300474Post 5 of 38

^ I missed that one :?

#300479Post 6 of 38
Grant, can you find out what the first track of his last 4hr set was...the one with the woman asking if you wanted her to bend over and touch her ankles??? That track ROCKS!!!
Umm... sure! :)

And yes - the entire 4 hour set will be aired in one piece. It clocks in at 4 hours 9 minutes from memory.

Excellent set for sure!

By the way.. picklemonkey - that picture you posted looks distinctly like a mate of mine when Scott plays, who I'm sure will pop up on here shortly under the name of Opaline. ;)

:ROFLMAO: Make sure he keeps both hands on the keyboard while he's in

the only one i can think of is Jose Nunez - Bilingual might not be the same track you're after.

#300515Post 9 of 38

hey grant, any chance of a 192 or above version of this to be available after its aired? that would be numba one!!

#300527Post 10 of 38

We'll have to wait and see about a download... don't know yet! Have to check that out with Scott.

Jeffrey,

The track is Earth Deuley - Puddles. :) Full tracklist from May is here: http://www.protonradio.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3004

Re: .AUdio on Proton: SCOTT OLIVER (Thurs, Nov 19)

Heard this set on the weekend & it is totally the shit! I think the track selection & programming is better than the May Proton set. Don't miss it. He's got the journey thing down pat. Probably his most varied set to date too.

Just a heads up, this is actually the 18th!!!
Just a heads up, this is actually the 18th!!!
I think the 19th is just a reference for his Aussie mates. He lists NY, LA, etc as the 18th. Damn Austalians.

Whoops! Sorry about that. I've done that before too. I'm having a blonde.. well.. existence, I guess. :)

Admin type uber-gods - would you please modify the subject field of the topic if possible to cover-up my overwhelming stupidity? Ta! (God, you'd think I was Peruvian or a New Zealander.) ;)

Scotts set seems like it's gonna be a doozie!!!

#304005Post 24 of 38

Gonna be? It's practically over!

#305235Post 25 of 38

I missed every bit of it, due to my Florida vacation... hope you're proud of yourself, Grant

#305260Post 26 of 38

Well, I wouldn't worry too much about missing it. Once again, mercuryserver is coming to your rescue.

Just got a PM from TomTom with these comments:

This Scott Oliver set is sick sick sick! The best audio installment I ever heard...prevents me from listening to other sets as I must listen again and again. Thx for providing the goodies

Tom

I hope the rest of you feel the same way. :)

#305269Post 27 of 38

^ he keeps telling me the same thing. guess i should hit play!

I really loved this mix...sometimes when you don't expect too much from somebody you haven't heard any sets before you get knocked down really hard when you recognize it?s a bomb. It seems Scott pitches most tracks up slightly so this set is the best warmup you can get before you go clubbing. Bam Bam Bam. :RightOn:

#305315Post 30 of 38
It seems Scott pitches most tracks up slightly
Uh-oh. I'm not much of a fan of happy hardcore, or anything close to it

#305324Post 31 of 38

nah I said slightly... it?s not happy rave 170 bpm but it sounds more like something I would listen to in a club..paced up a bit and upfront....

Re: .AUdio on Proton: SCOTT OLIVER (Thurs, Nov 18)

That's definitely Scott's style, and a mature one at that. Just really solid, credible tunes mixed in a very competant manner across 4 hours of a genuine journey-style set.

He's got quite a number of mixes kicking around the place for those who want more. You can find both last week's show, and the May 2004 installment from him in my shares on Soulseek (gtappers2) - and there's quite a number of others that opaline75 has got in his shares.

Help yourself! 8)

Re: .AUdio on Proton: SCOTT OLIVER (Thurs, Nov 18)

I'm glad you guys like the set. As with most promos or CD's that I make, it's a representation of how I like to play (and listen to) my music, whether it is in a club or at home. This set actually starts out in a slightly different style but I always like to try different things with my mixes. The journey plays a big part in what I love about music (especially in long sets) and that's what I tried to provide for the listeners in this set.

Some of these tracks are actually pitched down on this mix, which is quite normal for me. One or two towards the end are pitched up a little to make it a bit more up front at the peak of the set. Just in case anyone is curious, the mix starts at around 124 bpm and climbs slowly upwards throughout the set to 135.

Thanks for your comments guys. It makes my day to know that other people enjoy my sets. :)

#305443Post 35 of 38

Re: .AUdio on Proton: SCOTT OLIVER (Thurs, Nov 18)

Funnily enough Scott tends to pitch down more often than pitch up. But he's known to play sets that start out in the low 120s & slowly build up before finishing around 135 bpm without you even noticing.

#305445Post 36 of 38

Scott beat me to it.

Opaline racks up yet another pointless post. Well done me. :)

#305476Post 37 of 38

^make that two worthless posts

#305479Post 38 of 38

Good to see we've now got Scott to become a member. Now we've got the two best dj's out of Sydney on this board. In case anyone's wondering the other is Robbie Lowe.

Can't wait to hear your set Scott. Dan says he's sending it to me. For if I were to download it. It would take me a good month of on again off again downloading. Stupid dinosaur dial-up.
