Re: Old Flyers

I went there on a Monday in July 1998 - MoS had just released 'Clubbers Guide to Ibiza' the Monday before and the World Cup was already on. I remember watching England v Argentina in a bar on the strip and people were buying me drinks all night just because I was wearing a Liverpool shirt (Owen scored that wondergoal that night)! I got back to my hotel to get changed to go out, and some drunk literally picked me up and threw me in the pool fully clothed!

Wasn't into Sasha etc that summer so I went to Privilege, Amnesia and Pacha in those 2 weeks. Amazingly I only went to Space for the first time in Sep 2008!

Re: Old Flyers
Yeah we where supposed to arrive Saturday. But where delayed, we arrived Sunday morning at 2 am and went to Strawberry Sundae at Es Paradis till 6am then back to the hotel then off to Space. Sounds like we shared the same dance floor more than once
Must have mate.:) I went each year til 2006. Have'nt been since then. Going this summer though, getting withdrawal symptons.;) I'v a shit load of flyers, kept loads. No way of getting them up though.:(

Re: Old Flyers

Those Home flyers bring back memories too. Few of us went to the opening night in London - got to the club to see the most ridiculous queue I have ever seen in my life. It went around the building AND the building opposite and still people were tagging on the end.

Ended up going into some crap club next door and seeing ATB perform live, what a downer :(

Re: Old Flyers

£12 to get in and it was just one of those commercial clubs, playing top 40 stuff. Think it was called Hippodrome or something. I never did make it to Home whilst it was open which was a shame as it had a really good line up most weeks especially Parks & Wilson

#1184945Post 48 of 142

Re: Old Flyers

^ Yeah I went that night. I arrived 2 hours before it opened I ended up having to jump up the queue and still only just got in. I went every week Oakenfold played untill April 2000, then I was spending my weekends in Liverpool

John Digweed the Renaissance party at Trentham gardens got canceled so Digweed played Home. I wasn't there but I'm told he did an OldSkool(Renaissance) set. I like an idiot went to Gatecrasher.

I think Digweed did 12 till 2. Oakenfold did 6 till 8am but his set was cut short because someone let the fire alarm off half way through his Radio 1 broadcast. It was suspected to of been Ministry Of Sound disgruntled because they didn't get a Radio 1 broadcast.

chunky - I remember a lot of these like they were yesterday.

Totally forgot about that Ren gig being cancelled, but I too went to Gatecrasher at Don Valley - Oakey and Sasha played brilliant classics sets - I was going to upload my ticket from that night (itwillalwaysbewithyou) ha ha!

Those were the days man! Back when Mixmag was relevant and you found out about upcoming nights and CD's from their pages

Re: Old Flyers

I found this while I was looking for some photos

The Orb 1992. where did my life go

Its funny I remember this gig. I hitchhiked to it. I was living in London and I got a lift with these 2 Crusties who where also going to the gig. They told me they would give me a lift back as well. After the gig one of the Crusties wanted to hit a club so we went to Venue 44 in Mansfield hopping to get in. Obviously there was no way me and 2 Crusties where going to get into Renaissance and we where turned away. Then we drove to Leeds and went to BackToBasic's to try our luck. Surprisingly they where going to let us in, but by this time me and one of the Crusties where to knacked and opted to stay in the car. Looking back now I wish Id gone in as I never made it to BackToBasics or Renaissance at Venue 44. But to be honest I don't think they would of ever let me into Renaissance at Venue 44 anyway.

"For reasons beyond our control Sasha is unable to attend this evenings festivities"

Wonder how many times that's been posted at clubs !

What is should say is "Sasha got wankered last night, fancied sleeping it off, missed his flight, and now can't be arsed turning up"
