I have a question..

I just got the new U2 album on Vinyl...i just recently moved so i have my 1210's in the basement with everything else i have not been able to touch yet.

Shouldnt i be able to pull up one 1210 up to my living room and plus it right into the back of my Sony Receiver in the phono jack?

I am only getting sound on one speaker and if i play a cd it's fine,so i dont think it;s the receiver.

I was hoping to not have to use a mixer ...just want to check out the new U2 on vinly without it having to be a huge project

Should be able to plug the RCA's right into the tape or one of the extra channels.

Check your needles on both decks .

Re: Technics 1210 into a regular Sony Receiver?

if you are coming straight from the turntable to the phono input then first move would be to try the other deck - same problem means it's your receiver where the problem lies - avoid using a line level input on the receiver (tape,cd,md etc) as these work on a different level to phono (which requires pre-amplification) if the other deck gives you both channels then the fault is within the 1st deck....could be the cable, the connector, an internal connection within the turntabe or even a fault in the cartridge - try swapping the cartridges and make sure connection is good (and clean) a continuity meter would help you isolate where the breakdown in the path is...

Re: Technics 1210 into a regular Sony Receiver?

If you are extending the cables to make them reach upstairs (eg female - male rca lead) then the extension could be the fault.. try swapping the channels ie connect red to white and white to red. If the sound shifts to the other speaker then this proves your receiver is sound

First check the RCA cable that comes from the turntable to the receiver, maybe is that cable what needs to be fixed and don't forget the ground wire
