Thoughts? Every time I listen to one of his radio sets, I'm immediately grabbed by the opener. Which reminds me of Apollo Vibes  And usually the sets just keep going up on a higher note unless he does something spectacular to fuck it up which is rare.

Pole Folder has some of the best opening tracks
Re: Pole Folder has some of the best opening tracks
100% agree...zero gold is one of my all-time favorites and a great example imho.
Re: Pole Folder has some of the best opening tracks
i might have been one of the few people to like his remix of Imagine. Same for Dust and Waxxx.
I don't think he's ever put something out that I would give less than a 9/10.
Re: Pole Folder has some of the best opening tracks
Folder is just very musical, I'm always impressed by his programming and ear for sounds/basslines. He's playing Sydney soon, can't wait. Caught him once in Singapore and that was easily one of the best nights that year. But Zouk has decided not to bring him or 'people like him' back. Apparently their music policy if they ever had one, is mutually exclusive with good music.
Re: Pole Folder has some of the best opening tracks
i agree, pf is quality. 'salvation on slavery sins' is a killer opener.
Re: Pole Folder has some of the best opening tracks
Hopefully I can catch him Thurs night at the WMC, have never heard a live PFolder set before strangely enough.

Was in UK when I got the hernan masters vl 2 - "Slavery on slavery sin" blew me away
Re: Pole Folder has some of the best opening tracks
I always found it funny how everyone went mad about how good that Sander set was last year that turned out to be Pole Folder. Another of hes sets got posted a few weeks later and no one gave it a second look everyone just lost interest
Re: Pole Folder has some of the best opening tracks
Eh? Folder sets always get some response in P&R, except they're all less than 2hrs and hardly any live sets, so I don't think he gets the recognition he deserves. But quality wise, his radio shows are one of the most consistent in terms of tunes and programming.
Re: Pole Folder has some of the best opening tracks
His destinations sets are taken from live sets. But we do seen to take him for granted.
Re: Pole Folder has some of the best opening tracks
I love pole folder frisky podcast sets. Zero Gold is one of the best albums. I can listen to the whole thing without wanting to change a track. Zero Gold is a nice album to spark it up to.

Re: Pole Folder has some of the best opening tracks
^How was Pole Folder anyway? Thanks for catching that, it comes up in a cooljunkie thread under wmc 2009, but your right of course.
Re: Pole Folder has some of the best opening tracks
I saw him 2 years ago at WMC.Both shows Proton Radio & Frisky was hands down the 2 best live sets that I heard at Conference. Also was one of the coolest guys I've ever met.Really down to earth.

i throw that on when it's time to get noisy. Love that track.
Re: Pole Folder has some of the best opening tracks
Also guys, that remix of Pole Folder's brilliant, "The Way" -- that Spooky did -- sure is a massive opener too! A pretty amazing piece of music as well.
Benoit Franquet (aka Pole Folder) opens his catalogue with a beautiful but moody composition of progressive melodic layers. “The Way” is enriched in distilled clarity, which flows effortlessly through stimulating arpeggiosʼ and cinematic envelopes; which despite their tranquil breathing and filtering, are aimed at the heart of the dance floor. Pole Folderʼs continuous tight programmed drums both flutter and drive under sprinkles of inspiring atmospheres from start to finish. Spookyʼs pioneering sound resonates strong in dance music today, and with current projects including Sashaʼs impressive EMFIRE collective, Charlie May and Duncan Forbes have been drafted in by Pole Folder Fresh from their Involv2r project with Sasha; Spookyʼs mix reiterates their ability to capture the motion of a record, intensify the elements and redeploy it all in unexpected directions. Their remix, focuses around throbbing and entrancingly articulated chorded pads that rise and sweep with room filling results. Retro snare programming and rich retro synths carve out a voyage through techno and progressive house. The fusion of analogue drums and almost tubular FX shine and makes clear how Spooky defined a generation of progressive house. Pole Folders “The Way” encompasses his successfully utilised musical palette and sets the standard for the carefully selected releases to come..
Re: Pole Folder has some of the best opening tracks
First post since I don't know when
Pole Folder is a musical genious and a great personality ... Everytime you listen to Zero Gold, you discover new elements in the album. I bought the album right after release (which is almost 4 years ago), and even today, I'm still listening to the album now and then. It's just amazing what kind of sounds he 's engineering and how well he incorporates them in his tracks.
I was lucky to meet him in person a while ago at a music exhibition in Brussels where he had to do some demonstration work. Between his session, he took the time to share some music experiences, introduced me to some other guys, gave me some advice on new software to buy ... (for the producers around here: he's currently using Logic Studio). Really a cool guy without any selfesteem about what he has achieved already.
Re: Pole Folder has some of the best opening tracks
Heard some potentially good news last night !! :D
Re: Pole Folder has some of the best opening tracks
I imagine he would drop by Melbourne if he is playing Sydney. Let me know when, might make a trip down. Fuck Sydney.
