My mother is turning 50 in December and I would love to do something special for her since it is such a "big" birthday.

I have no ideas and it sucks, time is getting thin.

Sorry this thread is a bit sucky but none of my friends have good ideas either.

Give her a half-dollar coin!

How much money do you want to spend?

#299324Post 3 of 31

ahhh the big one. Send her on a cruise, old women seem to like that.

#299326Post 4 of 31

Dude I am poor. I cant afford a cruise for myself never mind for her!

I work two jobs and I still need more money ugh.

Anyways, I dont really have a money value set...I am looking for something not too expensive but something special for us to to do together cuz we are super close.

what's she like? what are her interests/hobbies?

#299331Post 6 of 31

She appreciates life a lot since she recovered from cancer, she doesnt drink. She just appreciates the little things and something small can mean everything to her so i really dont need to make it big/flashy. She likes music, baking, blah blah

Just a few ideas:

Nice dinner Have pictures taken with her Strip-o-gram

I don't know. I guess your options are slightly more limited with it being winter and all. Down here there's a ton of stuff you can do. My parents are both over 50 and I can't even remember what we did for them. Would she get a kick out of a surprise party? Does she have a lot of friends/family in the area?

#299336Post 8 of 31

do some research on stuff that happened throughout her life, and make a timeline of major events that she's been through, or something. maybe you can find some games that she played when she was 12 and buy/play 'em with her, like marbles or something.

it's just an idea.

interesting!

#299349Post 10 of 31

a bunch of us just sent my parents to vegas for my dad's retirement. $250 each...not too bad

#299354Post 11 of 31

take her to a very tall hill and walk up one side and down the other.

j/k

sounds like a fancy dinner and a day in the sun would do her some good. she prolly wants to keep it simple but surprise her with some concert tickets or something. ( by concert i mean an opera or some incognito jazz bar )

heck, i dont know. i wasnt around for my dad or step moms 50th. and my natural moms is coming up in a year or so, but i douobt i'll be around for that either. good luck.

Re: 50th birthday ideas

i know its kinda cold out, but take her to the zoo, sounds a little cheesey, but they have cool exhibits there, not sure if they have the same ones from the summer though , like the butterfly exhibit, gotta check, this sun my mom wants to go the city, theres like a choclate fair thing going on, w 18th street, @ the metro pavillian? get there early, my mom went last year and said it got packed out, then theres another fair of some kind on madison btw 42nd 47th, its like a holiday expo.. something like that, try to do a search and see if theres anything going on with the kind of music she listens too, concerts, singers stuff like that, if shes really cool, u could take her to charles feelgood @ pier 63

Whoa that almost sounds dirty. Maybe you need to take your relationship to that next level. There isn't anything that says I love you more then a mother, daughter sex toy party.

#300107Post 29 of 31

Be her servant for one day...make breakfast, clean the House and make a huge dinner with something you know she likes..nothing better than kids cooking for their parents. :)

#300163Post 30 of 31

man, if I ever get a 21-year-old female servant for a day she'd definitely be working the full 24hours... if only

:LoveYou:
