What Fanciulli is a god in waiting?

Sounds VERY good.

And about time too.

Nice one. Makes a change.

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

Yeah its old news. Due out in April apparently. I'm guessing hes doing the mix first then the Party.
Yeah I’m going to be doing a Nic Fanciulli mix comp for them. They are a label that I’ve always wanted to work with so I’m really happy it came together. The album should be coming out in April and it will have a full range of music, from deep house to dubstep.
^ :roflmao:

at least they seem to be sorting the series out!

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

He needs to do better than his Renaissance mixes which we're, in my opinion, fine but forgettable. Nice in the bad meaning of the word.

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

Hey what's the deal, according to Progressive Sounds, Eric Prydz is supposed to be doing one. There is no mention of Nic on PS, I would have thought that there would have been more information surrounding the mix, especially if it comes out in approximatly two months.

#1173462Post 10 of 77

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

Prydz was supposed to do New Zealand but he pulled a Mr T and wouldnt get on the plane. GU said if he didn't do the party they wouldnt release the Cd, even though he'd already finished it. So now Nic is doing New Zealand instead.

#1173470Post 11 of 77

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

GU should have relocated the release to whatever country Eric did not want to leave. Sounds like a waste of money to throw away a potential release, but oh well, bring on Nic then :)

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

what happened to going to the damn country, playing there and THEN doing a GU cd based on your club experience.. what a load of CRAP, lol

So prydz compiled and mixed a cd for a country he was never planning on visiting? what an ass, hope he didnt get a penny for his "efforts" Oh well, I'm sure it was a load of shite anyway, as I'm pretty sure fanciuli wont drop anything ground breaking. My my how GU has pretty much become a freaking punch line. Their only saving grace is starting up the nubreed series again.

#1173502Post 13 of 77

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

^^^^^^^^^agreed to the fullest. Nic has never really been a dj i listen to for good new music. I'd much rather listen to some Hernan of JZ instead of Nic.

too bad for Prydz though, as it could have really helped to cement a name for himself. Instead of just making tracks and releasing them, it would have made him known more as a DJ too.

I want another Sasha GU.

Hell ya for Sasha, especially after the Malta madness!!!

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

Fanciulli is like Masielo to me, fluff music, something you can put on in the background, but nothing that stops you in your tracks and make you go zomg wtf just hit me. Dhar is right, the music isn't ballsy enough, doesn't have an edge or leave much of an impression. But they both have their fan bases, so I assume the music works for some people ... maybe the handbag brigade who like to think they're listening to something 'harder' than house.

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

^^^ maybe so, but to me Desyn's tracklists are always some of the most sought after because he really does his home work and digs digs digs for his music

Feather have you have seen Desyn live yah?

#1173605Post 20 of 77

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

Nope, only heard his mixes ... I've not felt compelled to catch him live based on his mixes. Point me at some of his live mixes you prefer?
Yeah probably, feels like I said the wrong thing in here :NotMe: I don't dislike their music, I'm just not crazy about it, same with Sasha. ;)

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

Love Desyn up to middle of 2006. his Club Home Budapest sets from 05 + 06 are stellar imo. Some may say cheesey but funky groovy house. His 2004 EM & Aria 2004 sets is the bizness too. BTW Feather WTF happened to the avatar?:(

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

Just to let you guys know a little fact about Prydz...he doesn't fly. The man is scared of flying. I am not joking. I know this because when he was playing in Serbia a friend of mine that knows the guy that booked him said they had to drive to pick him up because he doesn't fly...

p.s. looking forward to hearing some quality music from Nic.

#1173612Post 24 of 77

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

his OSO1 and Balance 008 mixes were excellent imo, so I made a point to catch him if he came anywhere near my city which ended up being a real sh*t-hole club in mexico, but his liveset was one of the best I have ever heard live. I think Desyn was a game changer when he first came on the scene.

there was a mix he sent digweed originally right? I really enjoyed that mix at the time as well...

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

p.p.s. Fanciulli and Tenaglia together one of the best sets I heard live + best atmosphere...

#1173615Post 26 of 77

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

I did like his OS, but as I said, it's light melodies, it's like pop progressive house. I'm gonna hunt down this EM and give it a spin.

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

Kind of surprised to read this, but seeing as how GU is just getting around to releasing another Nubreed, I suppose that anything is possible.

Fanciulli actually did a set with Tenaglia??? Holy moly.
Fanciulli actually did a set with Tenaglia??? Holy moly.
I'm not totally sure on that. There was a set going around labeled as Tenaglia & Fanciulli from Space in Ibiza. Tenaglia does some voice overs on it, but there's nothing to say he actually played on the set.

#1173671Post 30 of 77

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

I love fanciulli's live sets, but I found his first renaissance cd to be pretty uninspiring and didn't bother listening to the second.

#1173711Post 31 of 77

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

Pleased with this news.

I purchased his 1st Ren CD from eBay last summer and I was pleasantly surprised - it was decent house music with a fair few vocals. I then picked up the 2nd volume about 2 weeks ago and I think that is better than the first.

I'd much rather listen to this kind of house music than all the upfront, turgid, boring stuff that a lot of big name DJ's are playing at present. Seems some DJ's have forgotten that it's all about the tunes whilst they have been learning to layer 15 tracks in 5 minutes...........

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

^ I'm with you Greg, I to purchased them both off eBay for next to nothing and enjoyed both of them

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

The second Renaissance he did was superior to the first IMO.

I liked and respected what he tried to do on the first CD of his first mix but I don't think it worked.

Shoiwng my naivety here, but what did he try to 'do' on that disc?

According to interviews, emulate Howells' GU Miami's first disc, or he was inspired by it anyway.

The classics like Changes he chose, however, we're terribly out of place in my opinion. They just weren't smoothly placed.

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

Have not listened to any of Nic's comp but seeing a few times over the years, he can get down, they had to drag him off the decks last time he played in Vegas, played almost 5 to 6 hours spending the last two doing a B2B with Paul Woolford. He is into dance music and coming from the whole Bedroom Bedlam DJ thing has carved quite a niche for himself. Good move for GU how about Laurent Garnier for the next GU or Francios K.

Re: GU 037: Nic Fanciulli

After this news, I think we need:

Eric Prydz GU040 - Birmingham

Then he can get the train there and back

yeah, we know, thing is HE knows it too, so why sign on to do a GU in a country you know you'll never visit. Unless he was planning on taking a boat

It's been established that he has obviously flown before, so it's probably more about the distance than just flying
