The past 6 months i've been having connection problems with my Isp , each and

everyday my service would go offline and thus losing a lot if not most of my

customers!!

im really seriously considering shutting

down the business but im really trying my best not too because i will have to sell

my apartment and if i do that i will have to live with my mother which is not the best

thing when your close to 30

i know that all of you have been thru Isp problems either home or

business so if anyone has any tips on how to write a complaint about the Isp that

would be appreciated.

Re: I need help writing an ISP Complaint

ahh, if youre actually paying for business and its going down often enough to affect your business, surely you have some way to get reimbursed for your fees.. business lines should be guaranteed to some extent.. i know ours are pretty much guaranteed 99% uptime

Re: I need help writing an ISP Complaint

if you're having these issues, the time your bill is due is irrelevant if they are not providing the services they promise

Re: I need help writing an ISP Complaint

Nice paint job on the place...maybe there is a career in that for you :) Just kidding. You should certainly write a complaint to them. I am gonna write one to my ISP and then I am gonna see what they say and if they don't offer a solution I am gonna switch.

My problems are kinda simmilar I have 8mb connection (or better to say that I am supposed to have an 8mb connection) in reality however I get around 5mb. I know there is loss of speed due to the cables and what not but I was guaranteed in the contract that I would be getting a minimum speed of 6.2 mb in addition to this my ISP has really annoying habits e.g. on Saturday and Friday the connection always cuts of around 4-5 in the morning cuz they know everyone leaves their PC downloading shit all night so they fuck you over. Not to mention that my connection gets really screwed up when I attempt to download shit using the full speed i.e. on multiple downloads.

I pay around 25 £ a month for that with free phone calls to land lines but I alway get a bill for abou 150£ due to international phone calls so it in their intrest to keep me really. For that kinda of money I could get virgin's optical internet with 25 mb per second with no speed loss.

Anyway I kinda got side tracked in my rant there, sorry...hehe Just write them a letter explaining your situation man. Tell them you run a bussiness that relly's heavily on the service they provide and that when they don't deliver you loose money. Its as simple as that and I don't know where you live but if your in the US say that they have already caused a loss of earnings to your bussiness and that your lawyer has suggested you take them to court :) that should keep them on their toes!

Re: I need help writing an ISP Complaint

Do you have some sort of official body that oversees these companies. ?? Communication ombudsman perhaps. ?? But you do need to get in contact with them asap and do as others have said. Tell them the truth. If you have a contract for then to provide you with a service to enables you to run your business surely they are breaking that contract. The in important thing is to deal with them politely but firmly. You really don't want to piss off people who can kill our business, but you need to let them know you are aware of your rights and legal options. Unfortunately I don't know what they are. Don't know your laws.

Good Luck!!

Re: I need help writing an ISP Complaint

Well it sounds like your ISP is not delivering on its uptime, that must be in a contract somewhere if you're on a business package. Give them hell for that. Maybe doing some traceroutes and pings to find out where the breakage occurs to use as 'evidence?'

Re: I need help writing an ISP Complaint

If your running a gaming location where most of the activity takes place on the internet, you should really have a dedicated line that is special for your business. There are plenty of fiber providers that will give a specific line so you aren't sharing the line with customers. It might be pricey, but in the long run it will pay for itself by not losing customers and your reputation when the line does down. If a dedicated line isn't feasible or affordable, maybe look into finding a backup ISP or backup connection.

And trying not state the obvious, but is there certain restrictions in place regarding the number of connections? My connection collapses if I have too many simultaneous connections. Do you have bandwidth and network monitors running?

Definitely worth calling and seeing what the problem is. Be sure to document every outage and be able to prove the outage is caused by them and not a network device on your end. Once you have that sort of data, you can write a complaint letter backed up with facts.

Re: I need help writing an ISP Complaint

I've had similar problems with British Telecom with our Business Broadband. We are supposed to get up to 8 Mb, we live in a brand new house less than quarter on a mile from a brand new state of the art exchange. A lot of the time we are getting 5% of that. I spoke to BT Business who told me the reading was low and they couldn't explain why. I asked them if they could come out and look at it, they replied NO unless we paid £250. They felt as long as we where getting something that the Broadband was OK. I explained to them that if I bought a brand new Ferrari that only traveled at 20 MPH I'm sure the garage would come out and check it. The support team saw my point but still refused to send an engineer. CUNTS

Re: I need help writing an ISP Complaint

yeah i think best is to call them and ask why you losing signal and going offline. maybe its a good idea to ask neighbors if they have the same internet provided and if so, if they experiencing the same problems. are the computers connected wireless or with ethernet cable? i had similar problem with my laptop when it was connected wireless but when i used the yellow cable the connection was great. maybe you should change your router??:NotMe: surely before you write any complaint letters tho call them.

Re: I need help writing an ISP Complaint

Wrote a brief complaint explaining what the problem is and waiting for their response. I also mentioned that if i dont get reimbursed i will seek legal advice. I

I ve been talking to tech support about this long ago, they even found errors , then they decided to change the router which still didnt resolve the problem...this has been going on for months. The contract says 1mb bandwidth guarantee so i guess they should do something about it!

thanks for all the info guys
