I burned some tunes onto a blank CD through my Mac, all MP3 format, slotted them into the CDJ-1000 at my local record store, and they aren't reading....I'm a bit of a novice at the moment, so any advice appreciated on what I should do :)

Re: Playing MP3's on Pioneer CDJ-1000

while on the subject I think its a joke having music in wav format...you get like 10 songs on a cd tops so you end up with like a 1000 cd's ...I never know where the hell everything is...finding a song if your not playing a pre planed set is an absolute joke...admitedly I am not big on organisational skills thats one of the main reasons I got Traktor Scratch...

the choice is very personal, people who come from vinyl background tend to go with the fewer songs per CD, or even 1 EP per CD, as it would be on the black plastic. new kids on the block tend to jump to 100s of songs per CD. I personally find the latter to be a much more confusing system.

Re: Playing MP3's on Pioneer CDJ-1000

yeah I agree, but what I mean to say is that for the price of the 1000's mk1, mk2 u should really be allowed to make that choice. The main reason I am not buying the 1000's is I can't force my self to spend money on a piece of equipment which is so obsolete it doesn't even play mp3's...I will stick to my 1210's and cdj 400's at least until I can scrape some dosh to buy mk3's

Re: Playing MP3's on Pioneer CDJ-1000

when i have like 60 new tracks, i like to use the mp3 function. mix track after track getting to know the feel of them. then when i know how they would fit in sets, re-burn them as wav format according to mood.

i've been dj'ing for 8 years, and when i switched to cd i initially did the 5-8 tracks per cd. when the mk3's were released, i switched to 30+ tracks per disc. all you have to do is have a list of what is on each cd and organize them correctly. granted, with serato & traktor out now, no point in doing either...

Re: Playing MP3's on Pioneer CDJ-1000

MP3s where meant to be played well on Pioneer DMP-555s. I am not sure if the CDJ-1000MK3s offer such functions regarding MP3s as the DMP-555s do!

Then also check Pioneer MEP-7000 since you want to interfere with MP3 and Digital material.

Re: Playing MP3's on Pioneer CDJ-1000

does burning an audio cd from wav files give a better sound quality than from mp3? There is still the conversion process to go through i guess but files are compressed more into an mp3 so was wondering if that loses something along the way? i've always bought tracks as mp3s but maybe wavs would be better for this reason ? dunno ?

Re: Playing MP3's on Pioneer CDJ-1000

Nah they still have the same sound, they just take up more space on a cd. But it also makes it easier to have a cd that get's messed up by buring them with mp3's...and then having a scratch or two on the disc.

If you don't know if you will always be playing on MP3 decks, I recommend just burning with WAV format.
